Consider the ideal entertainment to accompany that soothes you. You’ll immediately think of Gilmore Girls. The ideal program for any situation—quarantine, normal weekends, or random binge-watching. Gilmore Girls is about the daughter of Lorelai and her daughter Lorelai, who the program refers to as Rory.

It’s difficult to find an episode without absolutely ridiculous, funny jokes, and pop culture allusions are used liberally. There’s a reason why it’s a top-tier crowd-pleaser. And in a parallel universe, Schmidt (Max Greenfield) most certainly might have been one of Rory’s wealthy and obnoxious college pals.
Bunheads
After Gilmore Girls, Bunheads was Amy’s Sherman-second Palladino television program. Sutton Foster was a former dancer who was at a crossroads in the shelved comedy. It was a strange little comedy with lots of charm, Gilmore-isms, and well-developed character arcs.
Jane the Virgin
Fans will be drawn in by the intergenerational bond between a daughter (Gina Rodriguez), her mother (Andrea Navedo), and her grandma. It will be the three of them’s ferocious, unwavering love that will be most familiar. Fair warning: Expect stories of murder, hidden twin sisters, and drug cartels worldwide.
Hart of Dixie
This romantic comedy series stars Rachel Bilson and follows a New York doctor who relocates to the Deep South to take over a clinic. Fans of Doc Hollywood may think Hart of Dixie to be a more apparent choice. Still, something about her feeling like a fish out of water may ring a bell for those who adored Lorelai’s tale of discovering her real self after moving from the big city to a cozier setting.
Insecure
The creator star of the acclaimed HBO dramedy series, Issa Rae, offers her perspective on contemporary American life as a young Black woman. Like Gilmore Girls, the program masterfully juggles comical moments with friendships’ true ebb and flow. The show’s careful balancing of humorous and serious moments is similar to what made Gilmore Girls such a joy week after week. Simply be prepared for much more flesh than you saw in Stars Hollow.
Never Have I Ever
Maitreyi Ramakrishnan and Poorna Jagannathan are the stars of Never Have I Ever. Devi simply wants to be a “normal” adolescent and believes her mother won’t allow her enough freedom to do so. Being an unexpectedly single mom has Nalini under water. This program demonstrates how unique the relationship between a mother and daughter can be, similar to Gilmore Girls.
Schitt’s Creek
Schitt’s Creek is a Pop original, but Netflix’s distribution of it has greatly increased its popularity. A once affluent family is assisted in settling into their new home by the eccentric folks that populate the location bearing their name. You’ll like the central family’s speech patterns and find yourself looking up words in the dictionary.
Dead to Me
Dead to Me stars Christina Applegate and Linda Cardellini as Jen and Judy. They remind me of the Gilmore Girls’ characters as they are both straight-talking moms. Their connection was built on some terrible facts.
The Fosters
The Fosters on Freeform lasted for five seasons. An intersex lesbian couple with one biological kid and four adoptive children were the subject of the television show. Compared to its offshoot, Good Trouble, it dealt with racial, sexual, and mental health concerns in greater depth.
The Carrie Diaries
The Carrie Diaries depicts a teenage Carrie Bradshaw and serves as a prologue to Sex and the City. Compared to Rory’s foray into Rory’s dusty old books, Carrie’s literary exploits have more glitz and glamour. Since the ephemeral program was about Carrie, there was a guilelessness.
Switched At Birth
Gilmore Girls and Switched at Birth both have a tear-jerking, emotional tone. Two girls in the novel discover they were born into the wrong households. While one family is rich and the other is working class, their mismatched births have brought the two families together.

Both are from the early 2000s, rife with the boy and family conflict. Rory is an ambitious student at a private school who hails from a somewhat affluent household. See HBO’s revamped version of the classic series for a contemporary twist.

Grey’s Anatomy stars Meredith Grey, Miranda Bailey, and Cristina Yang. The medical drama creates a level of devastation and sadness not often seen in Gilmore Girls. Grey also embraces familiar themes of love and friendship with the deaths and disasters on the show.

In Zoey’s Extraordinary Playlist, Zoey discovers an ability to see people express their deepest feelings through musical performances. Much of the series takes place at her workplace, but much of it is also about her family – especially her mother (Mary Steenburgen) and ailing father.
Ted Lasso
Ted Lasso, who holds the title role, is portrayed by Jason Sudeikis. He is a part-time American football coach hired to lead a Premier League squad in England. The idea of the program is that he surprisingly transforms every player’s life that he meets.
Dash & Lily
Dash & Lily on Netflix is just like Gilmore Girls. Lily shares some of Rory’s romanticism and penchant for books. The whole episode is devoted to Dash and Lily sending each other to their favorite locations in New York City. Although there is some conflict, the program mostly stays charming and cheerful.
Maid
Based on Stephanie Land’s autobiography of the same name, Maid It is about a single mother like Gilmore Girls, except the plot is considerably worse. Nick Robinson, Anika Noni Rose, Billy Burke, and Andie MacDowell are also part of the impressive cast.
Little Fires Everywhere
Little Fires Everywhere on Hulu is based on a novel by Celeste Ng. Reese Witherspoon and Kerry Washington are the main actors. Although Shaker Heights elders consider them outsiders, the community’s youngsters are drawn to them.
Pen15
Anna Konkle and Maya Erskine play uncomfortable pre-teens in their thirties in the movie Pen15. The program examines all of the peculiar aspects of middle school, covering topics like social pressure and masturbation. It also focuses on the unbreakable bond between its two stars, Anna and Maya. These two females are in love despite their imperfections.
My So-Called Life
Compared to Gilmore Girls, it was a darker coming-of-age narrative. This series will appeal to those who like strong-willed mothers and forbidden teen subjects. Like Milo, Leto’s Jordan Catalano would have completely forgone his studies to be with Jess.
Mom
Bonnie, a mainly absentee mother who is attempting to become clean and be present for her adult daughter Christy, is portrayed by Allison Janney. Christy, who also battles addiction, had a child when she was still a teenager. The Emmy-winning program addresses serious subjects with lots of fun.
The O.C
Brody co-stars in the show with Peter Gallagher, Kelly Rowan, and Ben McKenzie. There are enough allusions to popular culture and family dysfunction to please Lorelai and Rory. At least on the Cohen side, there is a lot of coffee being sipped, and there is affection for everything East Coast.
Atypical
The middle-class nuclear Gardner family, which also includes an autistic kid and his track star sister, is the subject of the family drama. Fans of Gilmore Girls will understand how the stresses of daily life affect the marriage and how the problems within the family unit are portrayed.
Dawson’s Creek

Virgin River
Gilmore Girls fans are already excited for season three of Virgin River. Based on Robyn Carr’s book, the series shares quite a few themes with Gilmore Girls. On the show, we follow Melinda Monroe, who moves to Virgin River in California and discovers that there’s more to the small town than meets the eye.
Sweet Magnolias
We can appreciate this uplifting adaption, Sweet Magnolias, because of Sherryl Woods’s novel series. Three South Carolina BFFs who still reside in the same tiny town where they grew up are the subject of the love romance. They help one another as they navigate relationships, employment, and family concerns throughout the series.
Derry Girls
For the record, Derry Girls is one of the funniest programs you’ll ever watch. Additionally, it has the same sharp comedy and superb dialogue as Gilmore Girls while having a different premise. The sitcom, which is set in Northern Ireland in the 1990s during The Troubles, centers on a group of Catholic schoolgirls who experience the highs and lows of adolescence.
Younger
Liza Miller, a 40-year-old divorcee, played by Sutton Foster, decides to work in the ageist publishing sector after being mistaken for a teenager.
