Sweet Reincarnation Details
Starting off as a light novel, Sweet Reincarnation has received manga and anime adaptations along with a simulation game, which is in the making! The light novel was initially serialized in 2015 on Shosetsuka ni Naro’s website. It was later published by TO Books and has since collected 23 volumes as of October 2015.
However, the manga was written by Midori Tomizawa and illustrated by Seriko Iida and not the original creators. It was made available through the Nico-Nico-based Comic Corona manga service and has published 9 volumes as of 2023.
Naoyuki Kuzuya will be taking the director’s chair for this adaptation, with Synergy SP and Studio Comet producing the anime. Mitsutaka Hirota will be handling the scripts, Tomoko Miyakawa will design the characters, and the music will be composed by Hiroshi Nakamura.
The promo video revealed the theme songs; the opening theme song, Brand New Day, will be performed by Sana from Sajou no Hana, and the ending theme song, Fūmizekka (Delicious Taste), will be performed by YuNi.

Worth a Watch?
Sweet Reincarnation undoubtedly has an intriguing premise with the potential for a different take on the isekai genre. However, the first volume fails to deliver, putting forward a very average experience. Sure, the concept of a talented pastry maker being granted a second chance at fulfilling his wishes is interesting, but the story rarely focuses on the baking theme, throwing away the very point of the plot.
Despite remembering the moments from his previous life, the protagonist appears to ignore his culinary gift and instead showcases his talents in other areas, such as sword fighting, magic, and strategy. Why would he not focus on the main thing he was reborn to do? This creative decision feels like a missed opportunity to develop a well-planned story and affects the overall delivery of the series.
If the anime unleashes the series’ true potential, then make sure to watch it on Crunchyroll on July 3.
