Nope is a Horror flick like no other. Those who have seen the movie know what exactly I am talking about. On the surface, the film may look like any other. Nope is an excellent addition to the UFO genre. It’s no secret that Director Jordan Peele is an extraordinary filmmaker. This movie has definitely raised the bar for all the movies that are yet to come. The film takes place in Rural California and follows the Haywood Family. The family consists of Otis Haywood Sr, Otis “OJ” Haywood Jr, and Emerald “Em” Haywood.
The Haywoods are horse wranglers by trade. They train horses to be part of movies and such. Their seemingly normal life turns upside one when Otis Haywood Sr gets hit by a debriefs falling from the sky. After the death of their father, the sibling inherits the Haywood Ranch. After getting fired from yet another gig, OJ is forced to pawn off one of his horses to stay afloat. Back at home, the Haywoods notice that their electricity is fritzing. They see a Flying Saucer-shaped UFO abducting their horses and expelling the inorganic matter from their body.
The siblings come up with a plan to catch the UFO on tape and use it as a ticket to get out of their financial struggles. The movie progresses as they attempt several methods to capture some footage but fails each time. It was then they came to the realization that they were going about it the wrong way. The UFO is not a UFO at all, it’s a sentient being, and the abductions are none other than its feeding time. If that doesn’t pique your interest, I don’t know what will. If you liked what you just read, here are a few more movies you should give a try.
