The official website for the anime adaptation of Sacrificial Princess and the King of Beasts recently released its fourth promotional video, unveiling exciting updates for fans. The promotional video features this ‘cours’ (a quarter of a year) theme song and reveals two new cast additions!
The opening theme song, LOVE INFINITY, is performed by renowned vocalist Hinano, while the ending theme song, Call Your Name, is performed by Katagiri. With these exciting additions, the hype for the upcoming episodes of this fantasy anime continues to shine brighter than ever.
Welcome to the world of Sacrificial Princess and the King of Beasts, where 50 percent romance, 25 percent fantasy, and 25 percent adventure makes the perfect mix for a love story to brew between a human and a beast. This series was written for young adults transitioning from The Beauty and The Beast’s “brave love” to Sacrificial Princess and King of Beasts’ “soft love.”
As this series hangs on a beautiful thread of love and destiny, readers are questioning if this anime series will be as loved as the manga is. For now, let’s talk about the basics and see how this manga came alive.

All About the Sacrificial Princess and the King of Beasts
Originally serialized in Hakusensha’s shōjo manga magazine Hana to Yume from 2015 to 2022, Sacrificial Princess and the King of Beasts was a hit or miss for many, with half its readers claiming it was an instant page-turner to the other half claiming it was pretty average.
As per the recent news, the two new cast members introduced are Fenrir, voiced by Yuichi Nakamura, and Gleipnir, expressed by Masaki Mizunaka.
The anime is directed by Chiaki Kon and is produced by WOWMAX. Seishi Minakami handles the scriptwriting, Shinya Hasegawa is in charge of character design, and Kohta Yamamoto composes the music. The current opening theme song, Saku no Nie (Sacrifice During the New Moon), is performed by BIN, and the ending theme song, Only, is performed by GARNiDELiA.
What’s the Series About?
In a world where the King of the Beasts and Demons rules over all, a not-so-pleasant tradition exists; the regular sacrifice of human females to assert the dominance of the beastly race over humans, but the 99th sacrifice, Sariphi, is not your typical damsel in distress, stirring a curiosity within the Beast King.
Unfazed by his ferocity and accepting her impending fate without fear or tears, Sariphi intrigues the King. Wanting to know the reason behind her fearlessness and her lack of a home or family, the King unexpectedly offers her a place by his side as his consort. Thus, begins the extraordinary tale of Sariphi’s journey from sacrifice to become the Queen of both demons and beasts.
Is it Worth a Watch?
Creating bangers in the romance genre can be tedious work when masterpieces like Silent Voice, Your Lie in April, and Kimi no Na Wa exist, so sometimes “mid” romance series are let off the hook, and it looks like Sacrificial Princess might be one of them. The theme songs are bangers, the voice actors did a fantastic job, and the animation is decent, yet this show feels like it lacks a lot.
The anime is sometimes cute, funny, or serious. You can really tell the series is written for young adults, as some of the dialogues feel like it’s written by a teenager. The pacing of anime is good, which is undoubtedly an important element in the making of a series.
With common character traits of a stern beast, a soft princess and an easy to follow plotline, Sacrificial Princess and the King of Beasts makes it on the “to watch” list of only a few. I’m sure I won’t be disappointed by anything in the series, but I won’t be impressed by anything either. It received a 7.2 rating on My Anime List, and if that sounds good to you, then you can stream the show on Crunchyroll!
