The release date for World on Fire Season 2 Episode 1 is here. The first seven episodes of World on Fire, which was initially shown in 2019, were set against the backdrop of a burgeoning World War II and the German invasion of Poland and France.
Its second season has been a long time coming after significant setbacks caused by the COVID-19 breakout, and it ends on something of a cliffhanger. The second season of World on Fire features the return of Harry (Jonah Hauer-King, The Little Mermaid).
A British interpreter and soldier, Kasia (Zofia Wichacz), a member of the Polish Resistance, centers on the complicated lives of everyday people throughout Europe as it was engulfed by World War II and the infiltration of the Nazi regime. Following a German ambush, the duo got back together in the season finale, and their journey will continue in the forthcoming second season.
Along with Lesley Manville, who plays Robina Chase, Harry’s mother, Julia Brown will resume her role as Lois Bennett, Harry’s boyhood sweetheart and a vocalist for the Entertainments National Service Association.
Returning to the war-torn streets of Britain, this series depicts the atrocities of Nazi Germany, the French resistance, and the bloody battles in the North African desert through the eyes of everyday people and heroes battling for freedom.
Alongside Indian Sappers and Australian Diggers, the forces are continually trying to adjust to a radically different sort of battle in the Sahara.
Since the first season ended with Harry and Kasia narrowly escaping a Nazi ambush in Poland and being followed by Nazi soldiers, viewers are curious as to what happened to them. In the meantime, Lois gave birth to Harry’s child and accepted RAF fighter pilot Vernon Hunter’s proposal.
Season 2 will see a change in setting, starting in October 1940 and concentrating on Manchester during the Blitz as well as going back to occupied France, Nazi Germany, and the North African War, which took place between 1940 and 1943 and is a lesser-known period of history.
Recap Of World on Fire Season 1
While employed as a translator at the British Embassy in Warsaw, Harry develops feelings for Polish waitress Kasia. Harry and Kasia are forced to make difficult decisions when German tanks invade Poland, and Britain declares war on Germany.
Harry needs information badly after a month of the war and the destruction of Warsaw. Kasia joins the Polish resistance in the meantime.
Tom battles for his life on the HMS Exeter during the Battle of River Plate in December 1939. Harry and Lois are engaged in a more inward conflict at the same time.
As Kasia’s resistance activities in Warsaw pick up steam, Harry’s bravery is put to the test in Louvain when he comes face to face with a German sniper.
Harry, Stan, and the rest of their unit travel the last route out of France, along the road to Dunkirk, where Grzegorz battles his way to the front of a queue to board a boat, only to be pushed back by enraged soldiers.
This is happening as thousands of people evacuate Nazi-occupied Belgium. While the Roosters in Berlin grow more and more concerned for Hilda, Douglas in Manchester finds comfort in his friendship with Jan as his mounting worry for Tom drives him to the brink.
Without firing a shot, the Nazis captured Paris. Life for Webster and Albert in their beloved city will never be the same again.
Harry has another opportunity to free Kasia from Warsaw. Could Lois finally find happiness in Manchester?
