Fans out there have been having a hefty discussion over the same since last year as the group’s seven-year contract ended back on June 17, 2021. The restlessness about the same was quite reasonable as many K-Pop groups out there were not going for renewal after their seven-year contract ended.

Though, as it looks, MAMAMOO will stay with us for a while longer. After it was announced that Wheein would be continuing as a group member even after her contract termination with the company, the situation began to settle down. After GOT7 disbanded, things started to get quite messy with everyone out there. They were worried when Wheein decided to end her contract with RBW Entertainment. The fact that even if one member of the group didn’t renew the contract could threaten the entire group’s longevity began to circulate on all the social media platforms.

Though, after RBW released a statement about the same, things started to get a bit cooler. According to a media outlet, Osen, the company plans to fully support every member’s group and solo activities. The label also confirmed that they are discussing the same with Wheein and also assured that MAMAMOO’s disbandment is not going to happen any soon.

On June 11, 2021, it was confirmed by the agency that Wheein is not going to renew her contract with them, but she will still continue as a member of MAMAMOO until December 2023.

For now, there is no particular disbandment date for the girl group. The contract was indeed renewed, and that clearly means that the group is not going anywhere for some time now.

MAMAMOO: A Bit About the Girl Group

Operating under the RBW label, MAMAMOO is one of the globally recognized K-Pop girl groups. Known for their unmatched stage charisma and unique music style, MAMAMOO has been on the top of the global music ladder for a while now. The group is made up of four members i.e., Solar, Moonbyul, Wheein, and Hwasa. All of them are hugely popular for their bold persona and sharp looks.

Their debut in the South Korean music industry was marked on June 18, 2014, with the release of the single “Mr. Ambiguous”. As per many critics out there, MAMAMOO’s debut was considered one of the best K-Pop debuts of the year 2014.

She was closely followed by Wheein, who made her solo debut in April 2018 and released ‘Easy’. Next, Hwasa followed their lead and made her solo debut in February 2019 and released ‘Twit’. Soon enough, Solar made her solo debut with the release of her single ‘Spit It Out’ on April 23, 2020.

Recently, the group has released a compilation album titled ‘I Say MAMAMOO: The Best’ which features new versions of some of the best tracks. Alongside the lead single ‘Mumumumuch’ the album was released on September 15, 2022. Later, on March 23, 2022, the group released the Japanese version of ‘The Best’.
