Billy Miller’s early life and rise to fame
Once Miller finished college, he headed to Los Angeles and got his start working in the mail room at Industry Entertainment. His first opportunity in acting came when he teamed up with the Wilhelmina modeling agency. He was featured in six commercials, including two for Electronic Arts’ The Sims. Additionally, he appeared in ads for JCPenney, Pizza Hut, and pokerparty.com.
When Miller was 24, he tried out for a role on the CBS soap opera As The World Turns, but due to poor management, he did not get the part and ended up losing both the audition and his representation. Because of this disappointing experience, he took a break from acting for two years.
In 2006, Miller made a comeback in acting, appearing in an episode of CSI: NY. A year later, he succeeded in the role of Richoe Novak, who was a character involved in the murder blackmail and the brother of Annie Lavery in the ABC Daytime soap opera All My Children.
He first appeared in this role on August 30, 2007. When it was announced that Richie’s character would come to an end in August 2008, Miller had to go through the audition process once again.
Barbara Bloom, Julie Hanan Carruthers, Marla Kanelos, and his screen-test partners Peter Bergman and Elizabeth Hendrickson played crucial roles in helping him land the job on The Young and the Restless.
Miller’s final time portraying Richie Novak in All My Children happened at the same time as his debut as Billy Abbott on The Young and the Restless, which took place on September 19, 2008. He was the fourth actor to take on the role of Billy Abbott under a contract, and the character had seen different levels of success with previous recasts.
