Anime Expo 2023: News
An American convention held annually in Los Angeles, Anime Expo is the perfect place for otakus, cosplayers, aspiring directors, and novelists, or just an event for people to find their community and express their love for the series they love.
For 31 years, this anime convention has welcomed many great talents in the industry; from the stars of SPY x FAMILY to anime know-it-all Joey “The Anime Man” Bizinger, the convention has majorly impacted the manga, anime, and cosplay world.
Imagine this: a vibrant and upbeat event bursting with a colorful rainbow of characters, from spiky-haired heroes to cute waifus; you’ll find them all here. Everywhere you look, there’s a dazzling variety of detailed cosplays that will make your jaw drop faster than a Shonen protagonist.
This year’s guest lineup features several directors, ani-tubers, and voice actors. As mentioned earlier, The Ancient Magus’ Bride anime’s season two chief animation director, chief animation director, and directors Kohei Tokuoka, Koichi Naruse, and Kazuaki Terasawa, respectively, will serve as Guests of Honour at the event.
To make the event more exciting, Kafka Asagiri will grace the event with his presence just before the release of the 5th season of his most famous work, Bungo Stray Dogs. Maybe we’ll get some exclusive content from his appearance.
Not only that, Kadokawa will display a merchandise booth at the Expo, including free items. These free items include an OVERLORD Ainz mask, a KONOSUBA –God’s blessing on this wonderful world!– round fan, a Re: ZERO –Starting Life in Another World– hologram sticker, and a Bungo Stray Dogs calendar. As the 1000th episode of One Piece English Dub is screened at the Expo, Helck TV anime will also debut the first two episodes of the series.
About The Ancient Magus’ Bride
This romantic supernatural slice-of-life series delves into an engaging narrative, exploring Chise’s experiences and emotions within her newfound home, but can she really call it a home?
Chise Hatori is an orphaned Japanese high school student. Disowned by her relatives and society, she decided to sell herself at an auction in a desperate effort to find a new home. She is sold to Elias Ainsworth, a mysterious magus from London with an unsettling appearance. He has an animal skull in place of his head. Yes, you read that correctly. Elias, who appears more demonic than human, becomes the only method for Chise’s journey into light, or perhaps darkness, as she settles into her new life in Great Britain.
Based on the manga, written and illustrated by Kore Yamazaki, The Ancient Magus’ Bride is not shy of implementing socially disagreed concepts. That doesn’t mean it isn’t a good series. Not meant for a new anime watcher, this show caters mostly to enthusiasts who are well-versed in the anime culture.
With an 8.6 score on My Anime List, this series has received mixed feelings irrespective of its high score. Though the first season fell short, unable to deliver a strong start, viewers are still keeping faith in this series’ potential. You can watch the 1st season on Crunchyroll and experience this new take on romance yourself.
