The episode saw the young intelligence analyst contemplating resigning from the team she’s been a key member of for many years. And eventually, she left the NCIS for another job, shocking fans. Eric claimed that he obtained funding for his computer company and that the offices will be in Japan in “A Tale of Two Igors.”

Nell Was Ready To Replace Hetty
Nell was rumored to succeed Operations Manager Henrietta “Hetty” Lang, who had been largely absent from NCIS: Los Angeles. She seemed the ideal candidate for the position. Nell could fill Hetty’s (metaphorically) large shoes because she was smart, resourceful, connected to the law enforcement community, and carried the same amount of explosives in a smaller package.
But it was already apparent after a few episodes that Nell’s fate was uncertain. Instead, Hetty said she was considering having Callen (Chris O’Donnell) succeed her in the future. Because Hetty is Hetty, it appears that she already knew that Nell’s internal conflict would eventually cause her to make this choice.
The operations manager ultimately lets Hetty know that Nell is departing in season 12, and she offers her another choice before she makes her final choice. “With several weeks of wasted vacation time, you are a crucial member of this team,” Hetty informed her. “You can consider yourself quitters if I don’t hear from you after they’ve passed,” the person said.
That squandered vacation time suggests that Nell might be dealing with severe burnout. Nell’s head is probably spinning too quickly in every direction, which may be the source of her high-stress levels and lack of willingness to go to work, given how hard she works and how much time she spends at her ill mother’s bedside.

In the episode “Fortune Favors the Strong,” Nell’s motivation for leaving is made clear: the position has altered her so drastically that she now finds it difficult to get out of bed in the mornings to go to work. “I don’t believe I desire to be an agent anymore,” she said to Kensi Blye early on in the episode.
“It’s not abrupt, at least not for me” “It’s a lot of things,s actually, but mostly, I don’t think I’m thy same person I was when I decided to work here,” she said. Nell continued, “I believe it to be no longer appropriate for me.” You know, I used to be courageous. Except for perhaps Hetty, I wasn’t terrified of anything, but lately, I do not really desire to get out of bed.
Instead of heading further into the field as an agent, Kensi recommended that Nell stay at her old base of operations, but that wasn’t the answer Nell was searching for either. Nell said, “I don’t choose to be an intelligence officer either. “I’m leaving NCIS,” she declared.
While Kensi supported Nell’s dispute and troubles and recommended a vacation, she was less supportive of Nell’s wish to quit the team.
What Does Renee Felice Have To Say About Her Exit?
Renée addressed her departure in May 2021 and stated that, although she admired Nell’s character growth in season 12, it was appropriate for her to pursue new vocations. After leaving, the actor said she would concentrate on being a writer and director.
She also mentioned that she was working on a TV show already. Renée also announced a wish to pursue storytelling as a career with the release of her and her husband Chris Gabriel’s picture book “Hugo and the Impossible Thing” in March 2021. Renée took on the part of Laura Lee in the short movie “Someone to Carry You” after leaving “NCIS: Los Angeles.”
