M is suspicious about South African diamonds being stockpiled to decrease the price of diamonds by dumping, and he assigns James to uncover the ring responsible for the smuggling of diamonds.

Tiffany and Frank go to Los Angeles to smuggle the diamonds found inside Frank’s corpse. Bond meets Felix Leiter, a CIA ally disguised as a U.S. customer inspector, at the airport, and then the three travel to Las Vegas. Frank’s body is cremated at a funeral home operated by Morton Slumber, and the diamonds inside his corpse get passed to another smuggler.

It gets revealed it was James’ plan all along alongside the CIA. Meanwhile, Bond has instructed Leiter to ship off the diamonds. Following this, James goes to a casino hotel named Whyte House, owned by Willard Whyte.
This is where Slumber works as a stand-up comedian. Bond soon discovers Kidd and Wint have killed Slumber as they didn’t know the diamonds were fake. Bond meets Plenty at the carp’s table, and after gambling a few rounds, he brings her to his room.
Slumber’s men take them hostage and throw Plenty out the window in the nearby swimming pool. Bond instructs Tiffany to retrieve the diamond from the Circus Circus Casino.

The same night Bond and Tiffany are chased by the police, but they safely escape. Bond uncovers Blofeld’s plan to create a laser satellite after he saves the real Whyte. Blofeld planned to use the diamonds for the creation of his laser satellite.
