Written and illustrated by Kotoyama, the manga has surged in popularity and has become an award-winning vampire manga. The story of Yofukashi no Uta depicts the life of Kou Yamori, an average middle-school student who is relatively good at his studies and amiable with his peers and classmates.

One night, he encounters a bizarre girl named Nazuna Nanakusa, a mysterious girl who tells him that the cause of his insomnia is because he is dissatisfied with how he spends his days and cannot rest until his desires are fulfilled.

Nazuna offers to help him and invites him to his place where they both share a futon. Feeling unusual and strange Kou pretends to sleep but is surprised to see that Nazuna bites his neck, revealing that she is a vampire. Kou accepts his fate that he would transform into a vampire.

However, Nazuna tells him that he can only change into a vampire if he were bitten by someone who was truly in love with him. Kou strips himself off of his human tag and pursues a journey of love and transforming into a vampire.

Chapter 167 of Yofukashi no Uta starts off with Nazuna rejecting guy’s offer to go on a date bluntly. When he presses the matter further, she punches him which looks very satisfactory.

Kou had gone back home and the manga has been proceeding very slowly. At his house, the door bell rings while he was still asleep and he is woken up by his mother who tells him that someone had come to meet him.

It is revealed that Kyouko, the detective had come to meet him and they both go out. She asks him if he has ever been to a sushi restaurant to which Kou says no and she tells him that she has neither. So they both decide to go to a fancy restaurant to have sushi.

When Kou asks her why they are there, she tells him its a token of celebration because Kou deserves appreciation for doing well. The chef served them something exquisite without them ordering and Kyouko tells Kou that’s how fancy restaurants work. After having the sushi, they both brighten up at the delicacy that they just tasted.

They both have a bunch of delicious dishes which include caviar and gizzard and Kyouko expresses how she has not had a good meal in so long. Kou thanks Kyouko for treating him to the meal and Kyouko tells him frankly that she had a favor to ask.

Kou agrees and they both go to one of Hoshimi Kiku’s lairs. Kiku herself told her about the place and about Kyouichi, Kyouko’s father. She was also sorry. Kyouko is afraid to learn the truth but it will soon be unraveled.
