Limited or mini-series seem to be gaining popularity these days, as there are several new mini-series that have all done very well. One such American dystopian streaming TV mini-series is DMZ, which premiered on March 17th, 2022, on HBO Max. The series was created by Roberto Patino and is based on the comic book series of the same name by Brian Wood and Riccardo Burchielli. The interesting show follows Alma Ortega, an NYC medic, who becomes a symbol of hope in a demilitarized Manhattan Island while trying to find her lost son during the Second American Civil War. I know it is different from DMZ as it falls under the romance genre. However, Love Life is an HBO Max original and a great show to watch nonetheless. Love Life is an anthology series that follows different characters’ love lives until they find ‘the one”. The first chapter follows Anna Kendrick’s character Darby, an aspiring art collector who dates several different men to find “the one”. Love Life shows us how imperfect love can be and that there is beauty in that as well. It is a refreshing new take on love.
7. Raised By Wolves
Falling under the Sci-Fi genre, Raised By Wolves will satisfy those who want to spend a lot of time in a world brought to the screen with the help of Ridley Scott. Raised By Wolves follows two androids, Mother and Father, as they try to establish a human atheist colony on a new planet after a religious war destroys Earth. However, they soon learn that human belief is a tricky thing to control. Scott directs the first two episodes and acts as executive producer while providing a provocative look at the world of AI and religious beliefs.
Amanda Collin’s Mother is a powerful lead, and the series is full of big performances. The show is an HBO Max Original. Along with Amanda Collin, Abubakar Salim stars as Father. The two androids are tasked with raising human children on Kepler 22b after the Earth was destroyed by a great war.
8. Gomorrah
Falling under the crime genre, with its fifth and final season, Gomorrah is an Italian crime drama based on a true story, which has made itself a place among the great mafia shows. The show is a realistic look into Naples’ crime world and follows a gang’s power struggle after their leader is killed. Falling under the Drama Genre, Station Eleven is a treat for post-apocalyptic TV fans. The show’s beautifully written character and the storyline are what make it so appealing and keep its viewers on their toes. As a flu-like virus causes the downfall of most of humanity, the story follows a young girl named Kirsten and an adult man named Jeevan. As the show immediately jumps to twenty years into the future, we keep getting glimpses into the past to find out how they ended up where they are now.

Station Eleven stars Mackenzie Davis and Himesh Patel as Kirsten Raymonde and Jeevan Chaudhary, respectively. 10. The Flight Attendant
The Flight Attendant is a compulsive thriller that stars Kaley Cuoco and is probably one of the best shows to come out of HBO Max. Cassie, played by Cuoco, is a reckless flight attendant who sleeps with a passenger on a wild night out. After the night, she wakes up in Bangkok with no memory of what happened and a dead body. After she sobers up, she tackles the mystery of what happened that night and is determined to prove her innocence. The show has a surprisingly dark psychological layer and a gripping storyline that keeps viewers at the edge of their seats.
Viewers will enjoy Cassie playing detective, which she is wildly inept at, in a world of killers. The series follows the life of the American flight attendant, who also happens to be a reckless alcoholic who drinks during flights and spends her time having sex with strangers, including her passengers. We are shown how this reckless lifestyle lands her in all sorts of trouble.
