Soul Eater is a Japanese manga series illustrated by Atsushi Okubo, and it was later adapted into an anime as well. The story is set in a world where humans, demons, and witches exist. It revolves around three main duos of students who strive to become the strongest protectors of humanity as demon hunters, the Shibusen at the Death Weapon Meister Academy, founded by Lord Death.
The three duos consist of a Meister and their Weapon that transforms into humanoids. The Meisters collect evil souls and turn them into weapons, which are then wielded by their partners, who are called Weapons. The Meisters and their Weapons aim to hunt down all the evil beings called Kishin, who are powerful beings that consume the souls of humans. They can also turn into powerful weapons themselves.
The main character of the series is a Meister named Maka Albarn and her Weapon partner Soul Eater Evans. Her goal is to become a Meister just like her mother and reach the ranking of “Death Scythe,” and for that, she has to collect the souls of ninety-nine Kishins and one witch. As the series progresses, Maka and her friends face off against various enemies, including different Meisters and Weapons, powerful witches, and Kishin.
