The cause of death has been confirmed for Kellie Pickler’s late husband, Kyle Jacobs. The songwriter died at the age of 49 on 17 February 2023 in the couple’s Nashville home. The police said they found him with a self-inflicted gunshot wound and classified it as an apparent suicide case.
A spokesperson for the Davidson County Medical Examiner confirmed that Kyle died by committing suicide. It takes around 60- 90 days for the toxicology results to come, and in the autopsy report released by Taste of Country, it was stated that Jacobs wasn’t using drugs at the time of his death. Although, he did have a history of elevated liver enzymes, chronic alcohol use, pseudo-seizures, and gastrointestinal bleeding.
Officers from the Metropolitan Nashville Police Department were called to their house in Tennessee on the 17th of February after the American Idol Alum couldn’t find her husband when she woke up. Kellie Pickler and her assistant dialed 911 around 1 in the afternoon when they were unable to open an upstairs bedroom door during their search for Kyle.
Looking Back on Kellie and Kyle’s Journey: A Memoir
Kellie and Kyle, who were once hesitant to share their personal lives with the public, had fully embraced married life and were dedicated dog parents. The couple got engaged in 2010 and eloped to tie the knot in a private Caribbean wedding in 2011. Instead of spending an extended honeymoon on the beach, they jetted off to a pretty unlikely destination: Baghdad, Iraq.
As a part of a USO tour, Kellie performed for the troops present in Baghdad, which was a part of their honeymoon plan. In the year 2019, The Kelly Clarkson Show, Kellie mentioned that the soldiers they met during their honeymoon trip had enjoyed the duo’s visit and even participated in making their stay over there even more special.

Pickler and Jacobs collaborated on not just music but more. In 2015, the couple launched a CMT reality show, “I Love Kellie Pickler,” on their life. The show ran for two years, ending in 2017. In most reality shows or series, relationships can be seen ending in heartbreaks, but Pickler and Jacobs appeared to be happy with the three show seasons that their audience enjoyed.
According to Jacobs, he and his wife had a relationship dynamic similar to the one broadcasted on the show. As he further explained, he said that it was honestly nothing but love and laughter. They loved their marriage, and it was always No. 1. But one of their favorite things to do was laugh together.
