The Rolling Stones did not hide their excitement when they said that Lady Gaga would sing with them on a new song for their upcoming album, Hackney Diamonds. Lady Gaga sounds really nice when she sings in the new song “Sweet Sound of Heaven”, Ronnie Wood from the Stones said during a live interview with Jimmy Fallon, Mick Jagger, and Keith Richards. This happened just before they showed the video for their album’s first song, “Angry’.
They did not share much more about the collaboration, except that it is another big-name feature on Hackney Diamonds. The album will also have a special appearance by music icon Stevie Wonder. People who speak for Gaga and the Rolling Stones did not reply right away when EW asked them for a comment.
Gaga and her music collaborations
“Sweet Sound of Heaven” is not the first time Gaga and the Stones worked together. Before this, she sang with the famous English band during a concert in December 2012 on the 50 & Counting tour. They sang their version of the Stones’ song “Gimme Shelter” from the album Let It Bleed.
This new song adds to Gaga’s list of collaborations with famous rock artists. She sang “Your Song” with Elton John at the 2009 Grammys and later worked with him on her 2020 Chromatica song “Sine From Above.” She also performed with Metallica at the 2017 Grammys, singing “Moth Into Flame” with them.
In a 2021 interview with EW, Gaga hinted that she had many new songs coming up. She said that she always has music in her heart, and she is working on it. The question is, what will it be? She did not want to reveal it at that moment but mentioned that she is always thinking about music, and it shows up in various ways. Hackney Diamonds will be released on October 20th. It is the Rolling Stones’ 26th album, and it is their first one in almost seven years.
The Rolling Stones’s first album in 18 years
Hackney Diamonds is the Stones’ first album with new songs since 2005’s “A Bigger Bang”. When talking about the 12-track record, which includes two songs recorded with drummer Charlie Watts in 2019, Richards remembered his former bandmate, who passed away in 2021 at the age of 80. Richards said that since Charlie is no longer with them, things have changed. He is like the fourth member.
The guitarist mentioned that Watts had suggested drummer Steve Jordon as a replacement a long time ago if anything were to happen to him. This made it feel like the right choice, and it would have been much harder without Charlie’s approval. Richards, who was wearing his familiar trilby hat and dark glasses, shared this with Fallon.
Talking about a long time between the new album and “A Bigger Bang”, Jagger said that the band had been touring a lot, but he joked, ‘Maybe we were a bit too lazy’. The 80-year-old singer mentioned that he, Richards, and Wood met up before Christmas last year. They set a goal to finish the new album by Valentine’s Day. Richards explained that when the singer is ready to make a record, you should record him because you do not know when he will be ready again.
