From Dreams to Freedom, AKA Kkum-Eseo Jayu-Ro is the story of Jeongmin Choi. She is a student at the Eunbeck Girls Highschool and has a secret ability. Before getting into that, let’s get into her situation at school. She is constantly harassed by her classmates all day, every day. And the reason is that she was Best Friends with the most popular girl, Juhyeon Ha, while in Primary School.
Back then, Jeongmin Choi used to be the popular one, and Juhyeon Ha was a loner. Even though her friends warned her that Juhyeon Ha had a bad personality, Jeongmin started talking to her. They quickly became friends, and before soon she realized what her friends warned her about was all true. Juhyeon was trying to isolate Jeongmin. Juhyeon Ha gets isolated instead.
Several years later, it appears that Juhyeon held a grudge to this day. At the Eunbeck Girls Highschool, their roles had completely reversed. Here Juhyeon Ha is the popular one, while Jeongmin Choi is a loner. Furthermore, Juhyeon spread the rumor that Jeongmin used to bully her in primary school. This resulted in Jeongmin’s high school life becoming a nightmare.
At least when you wake up, the nightmare is over. The other kids in the class believed Juhyeon and were taking revenge on her behalf. When that didn’t seem enough, Juhyeon also started to torment her. With no one left to help her, she resorts to the one thing she is good at, Lucid Dreaming. The secret ability I talked about earlier. In her dream space, she is God.
She recreates her classroom in her dream and manifests Juhyeon inside it. She takes out all her anger on her. Tells her the things she wished she could have told her in class. It’s not restricted to just Juhyeon. It’s anyone who harassed her that day. Her only other form of stress relief was an app that is somewhat similar to Twitter. She vents her feelings over there.
One day while Jeongmin was sleeping, Juhyeon went on her phone and found the account. The next day she proceeds to expose her to the whole class. A distraught Jeongmin, as usual, takes her ranger out on her in her dreams. However, this time she was seething with anger and stabbed her with a pair of scissors. We see a man watching her from a distance laughing menacingly.
The next day at school, she notices Juhyeon is not in class. She learns that she is in the hospital after randomly starting to bleed from her stomach the day before. To her horror, Jeongmin realizes that the wounds she inflicted on Juhyeon the day before were reciprocated on her body in real life. That night when she dreamed again, the man approached her, offering his help to get even with her bullies.

It looks like Jeongmin Choi is now dating Siyun Baek, the man from her dreams. In reality, he is an idol. She seems to be wary of him. When her friends were asking to hang out with her, share refused to say her Oppa would not like it. This makes her friends worried that Siyun is very controlling of her. We are also introduced to Nayuk Kang, another idol and Siyun’s childhood bully.
Nayuk appears to have some sort of obsession with Jeongmin Choi. He follows them around, waiting for him to be alone. But even after trying for days, he could not get her alone. Turns out Siyun knew already and caught him red-handed. He makes up a lie about why he is following them. They met the other day to talk. Siyun played it cool, saying there were no hard feelings.
Siyun relents and tells him that he is jealous of him. How he is mad that he stole his chance to debut etc. However, he calmly said them. The look in his eyes was enough to make Nayuk see that he didn’t mean any of it. Furthermore, he tells him that he already has a Girlfriend. He explains that he is not interested in him as he is not his type. This leaves Nayuk seething. He yells at Siyun, saying it’s a misunderstanding and that he is not Gay.

Nayuk Kang was pretty pissed at Siyun Baek for looking down on him. Furthermore, he implied was Nayuk was trying to seduce him. Nayuk took great offense to it. It may not be enough to cause a physical altercation. Even if it does, Siyun Baek will surely have the upper hand. If not, he can always use his trump card, lucid Dreaming. Jeongmin Choi will most likely see them together.
She was already feeling guilty for leaving Siyun alone the day he met up with his bully. Jeongmin might decide to go off on him, and Siyun will have to get her to back down. Since Nayuk has feeling for Jeongmin, it will be especially depressing for him. This will only make him hate Siyun more since he will assume that he poisoned Jeongmin against him.
