007 First Light has sold an estimated 873,000 physical copies on PlayStation in 2026, generating approximately $61.7 million in revenue from disc sales. According to Alinea Analytics’ report, Physical Game Revenues on PlayStation, the James Bond action-adventure game ranks second among the year’s new PlayStation releases by physical copies sold, behind Resident Evil Requiem.

The estimated figures highlight the financial contribution of physical editions to IO Interactive’s latest release. Although digital purchases dominate revenue for several major PlayStation games, 007 First Light has generated a substantial amount of money through boxed copies alone.

007 FIRST LIGHT’S PHYSICAL SALES GENERATE OVER $61 MILLION

Alinea Analytics estimates that 007 First Light generated $212.7 million in total PlayStation revenue in 2026. Physical copies account for approximately 29% of that figure, translating to an estimated $61.7 million from disc sales.

This puts the game among the leading new PlayStation releases for physical revenue. For comparison, EA Sports FC 27 generated an estimated $727.9 million in total PlayStation revenue, but physical copies contributed $64.9 million, or just 8.9%. Despite selling fewer physical copies than 007 First Light, the football game earned slightly more from discs.

Resident Evil Requiem recorded a stronger physical-sales performance, selling an estimated 1.3 million PlayStation copies and generating more than $92.3 million in physical revenue. Meanwhile, Marvel’s Wolverine earned approximately $64.6 million from physical sales, representing 32.3% of its PlayStation revenue.

These comparisons show that physical copy counts alone do not determine revenue. Pricing, regional sales patterns, and the balance between digital and physical purchases also influence each game’s financial performance.

JAMES BOND’S NEW ORIGIN STORY REACHES PLAYSTATION PLAYERS

Developed and published by IO Interactive in partnership with Amazon MGM Studios, 007 First Light presents an original interpretation of James Bond’s early career. According to the official PlayStation announcement, the game follows a young Bond as he enters MI6’s training programme after demonstrating his instincts and bravery.

The experience combines stealth, combat, driving, and espionage gadgets, drawing on IO Interactive’s experience developing the Hitman franchise. The game launched on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC in May 2026, with a Nintendo Switch 2 version also planned.

Its physical sales performance arrives amid wider debate about the future of boxed games. Digital distribution offers platform holders and publishers advantages, including reduced manufacturing and shipping expenses. Physical editions, however, continue to appeal to players who value collecting games, reselling copies, or building a library that does not depend entirely on digital storefronts.

Alinea Analytics’ estimates suggest that 007 First Light remains a notable example of physical PlayStation sales generating tens of millions of dollars. While the figures do not predict how the market will evolve, they demonstrate that disc sales can still make a meaningful contribution to a major game’s revenue.
