Al Michaels Left NBC: Here Is Why
Since 2006, Al Michaels has served for NBC’s Sunday Night Football until now. To be more specific about it, he has done it for 16 seasons. At present, he has been replaced by Mike Tirico. Al Michaels will be seen accompanied by Cris Collinsworth and Melissa Stark as well. Despite leaving the show, he will still be considered one of the prominent voices of the NFL football broadcasts.
Al Michaels’ contract with NBC ended in February 2022, after the 11th Super Bowl event. He didn’t take any rest but soon (more precisely in the very next month) got himself signed to the Amazon Prime Video for covering Thursday Night Football exclusively. This announcement was made on 23 March 2022, making each of his fans equally happy and excited. This time, he will be accompanied by the analyst, Kirk Herbstreit. It shows how much interested he is in getting himself involved in work.
However, here comes the good news! Al Michaels hasn’t left his former house, that is NBC, completely. It was just for a short period. Yes, he is back! In May 2022, Al Michaels has been reported to have gotten to serve the emeritus role for NBC. On this note, the sports broadcaster said, “I’m looking forward to continuing my longtime NBC relationship while also launching the Thursday Night Football package on Amazon this fall.
A special thanks to NBC Sports Chairman Pete Bevacqua and the folks at NBC Universal for their help in making this happen.” Talking more about it, Al Michaels will be seen contributing to NBC’s productions of the NFL Playoffs and the Olympics as well. Little did you know, he is also reported to be calling one postseason NFL match for NBC this upcoming season. How badly are you excited about this?
On this note, the NBC Sports Chairman, Pete Bevacqua, said, “We are thrilled that he’s staying in the family and raising the stature of our events for years to come.” We are pretty much aware of his worth. He has been the recipient of Sports Emmy Awards not just once but eight times. Well, this wasn’t easy, but it needed his immense dedication, self-belief, and hard work. Managing both at the same time is not an easy task.
No doubt that many voices are the same. But, Al Michaels is here to make the difference. Best Wishes to Al Michaels for the upcoming days of his life. Hoping, he achieves more success in his new venture!
