Zenless Zone Zero has received an age rating increase on PlayStation 5 in Europe, moving from PEGI 12 to PEGI 16. The change has drawn attention to the action RPG’s mature themes and character presentation, although HoYoverse has not publicly confirmed the reason behind the revised classification.

The game’s European rating information references “moderate violence” and “sexual innuendo.” However, the supplied report says its US rating remains Teen, while its Apple App Store classification is still 13+.

The rating increase has sparked speculation among fans about whether the game could feature more mature content in future updates. However, there is currently no confirmation that the change signals any plans by HoYoverse to make the game more explicit.

The title has attracted discussion over its character designs, animations, and fanservice, which have become prominent aspects of its presentation. Its gacha system also encourages interest in new character releases.

Recently, an animation featuring the new character Phoenix gained attention online, highlighting the studio’s cinematic approach to character sequences.

For now, the PEGI 16 classification applies to the European PS5 version. Whether other platforms or regions will receive revised ratings remains unclear.
