Zenless Zone Zero is set to receive one of its biggest updates yet as HoYoverse officially confirms Version 3.0 titled A Sleepwalker’s Confession. Launching on June 17, the update introduces a brand-new sky island region called Roscaelifer, marking the beginning of Season 3. Alongside this, players can expect new S-Rank characters, gameplay systems, and a major expansion of the game’s world.

This update represents a significant shift for Zenless Zone Zero, expanding both its narrative and gameplay depth. With the addition of a fully explorable floating city and improved mechanics, Version 3.0 is positioned as one of the most content-heavy updates so far. Here’s everything you need to know.

Roscaelifer Sky Island Is the Biggest Addition

The standout feature of Version 3.0 is Roscaelifer, a mysterious floating island that serves as the main setting for Season 3. This restricted zone introduces a completely new environment, blending urban design with surreal elements. Players arrive here as transfer students, setting up a fresh narrative perspective.

Roscaelifer includes multiple interactive landmarks, such as Roarin’ Brekkies and the Spotlight Theater, adding life to the city. Exploration plays a major role, with hidden routes like a secret sky bus that unlocks under specific conditions. This encourages players to fully engage with the environment rather than just follow the main story.

The storyline revolves around unstable Ether energy and a mysterious force called Pyrois. As players progress, they uncover secrets tied to both the city and their own abilities. This makes Roscaelifer not just a location but a core part of the narrative experience.

New S-Rank Characters and Combat Depth

Version 3.0 introduces two major S-Rank agents who significantly impact gameplay. Velina, a Wind attribute Anomaly agent, specializes in applying status effects that trigger powerful combo reactions. Her abilities create vortex-style damage that affects multiple enemies at once.

Norma, a Fire attribute Stun agent, brings a different playstyle focused on team synergy. She can convert team actions into chain attacks, increasing combat efficiency and opening new strategies. This makes her a valuable addition for players who prefer coordinated team setups.

These characters expand the combat system by encouraging more strategic combinations. Their mechanics also hint at future updates, where synergy between agents will become even more important. This keeps gameplay dynamic and evolving.

New Exploration Systems and Mechanics

The update introduces several new gameplay systems that enhance exploration. One of the most notable is the Universal Terminal, which allows players to control surveillance cameras and deploy drones. This adds a tactical layer to how players approach missions and environments.

Another major addition is the use of Pyrois powers for movement and puzzle-solving. These abilities allow players to navigate complex environments and adapt to changing conditions. In certain areas, environmental mechanics shift unpredictably, requiring quick thinking.

The Interboo collection system also tracks exploration progress and rewards players with in-game currency and items. This system encourages thorough exploration and adds a sense of progression beyond combat. Together, these features deepen the gameplay experience.

New Modes, Rewards, and Steam Launch

Version 3.0 also introduces new permanent gameplay modes, including a squad-based system where players manage Collaboorator teams. This adds a strategic layer to the game, allowing players to complete missions and upgrades more efficiently. Another new mode, Annihilation Simulacrum, focuses on high-difficulty boss battles without elemental advantages.

Players will receive up to 1,600 Polychromes as part of the update, along with a free agent and exclusive rewards. Limited-time events will also provide additional items, ensuring strong engagement during the launch period. These rewards make the update especially appealing for both new and returning players.

In addition, Zenless Zone Zero will officially launch on Steam alongside the update. The game supports full cross-play and cross-save, allowing players to switch platforms seamlessly. This expansion increases accessibility and brings the game to a wider audience.
