Nintendo may be preparing a special-edition Nintendo Switch 2 and Pro Controller to celebrate the 40th anniversary of The Legend of Zelda, according to newly leaked images. The reported hardware appears to be closely tied to the upcoming The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time remake, which Nintendo has confirmed for Switch 2 in 2026.
The leaked designs give fans their first apparent look at the rumored Zelda-themed hardware, although Nintendo has not officially announced either product. The images reportedly show a heavily customized console, dock, and Joy-Con 2, alongside a matching Pro Controller.
Zelda Switch 2 Features Triforce and Hylian Designs
The Switch 2 dock features a black-and-gold design with the Triforce prominently displayed. The Joy-Con 2 controllers reportedly use a green finish and also incorporate Zelda-themed Triforce details.
The matching Pro Controller reportedly combines black, gold, and green elements, with the Hylian Crest positioned prominently in the center. A separate 40th-anniversary logo also appears to have surfaced, featuring Link in his classic 8-bit design.
Nintendo has officially confirmed that The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time is being remade exclusively for Nintendo Switch 2 and is scheduled to launch in 2026. Nintendo’s official store describes the project as the Nintendo 64 classic
“reborn for a new generation.”
The leaked hardware could therefore provide an early indication of Nintendo’s plans for the Zelda franchise’s 40th anniversary. However, until Nintendo confirms the console and controller, their designs and release plans should be treated as unverified.
