Zach Braff recently revealed that he still has strong affection for Florence Pugh, his former girlfriend. He talked about his film “A Good Person,” which he wrote and directed while still dating Pugh, in an interview with SiriusXM’s The Jess Cagle Show.
Braff highlighted how strong their friendship was, but Pugh had disclosed in August 2022 that their three-year romance had ended discreetly.
Braff said in a radio interview, “Well, we love each other. We are friends, and we love each other. She said she needed to see pictures of my outfit before she could approve it when I appeared on the Today show this morning.”
Speaking highly of Pugh’s acting abilities, he said, “Hey, I think it’s pretty clear across the world that I’m not biased when I say that she is one of the finest actresses working today.” “I just think myself really fortunate to have her as my leading lady,” Braff continued. I believe that anyone who gives “A Good Person” a chance to watch will discover that she is truly remarkable.”
Zach Braff wrote “A Good Person,” keeping Florence Pugh in mind
In the movie “A Good Person,” Florence Pugh portrays Allison, a woman who battles addiction and depression following the death of her high school sweetheart in a vehicle accident that called off their engagement.
As Allison begs for help, she unexpectedly develops a friendship with her prospective father-in-law, Daniel (played by Morgan Freeman). Zach Braff, the director of the picture, revealed that he wrote the script with Pugh’s outstanding performance in mind.
Braff expressed his admiration for Pugh’s talent by saying, “I’m just in awe of her talent, and I said, ‘I wanna write this for Florence.'” She’s incredible, and this writing I’m doing will be really challenging.”
In March, during an interview with Entertainment Tonight, he referred to Pugh as a “next-level actress” and emphasized her extraordinary skills. He continued, “I wanted to write something for her, and I had this image in my mind of that diner-booth scene, and I thought of Florence Pugh opposite some legend that everyone’s talking about.”
Florence Pugh and Zach Braff’s relationship history
Zach Braff and Florence Pugh have decided to part ways. In an interview with Harper’s BAZAAR in September 2022, the “Don’t Worry Darling” actress revealed that their split was friendly. Pugh clarified that they sought to maintain the privacy of the split in light of the public’s perceptions of their union. They decided to handle their breakup discreetly rather than with a public celebration.
Following their social media reunion, they made the decision to take a vacation and work together on the short film “In the Time It Takes to Get There.” While they looked adorable when they were first spotted together in April 2019 in New York City, the details of their breakup and subsequent reconciliation remained secret.
Though there were earlier rumors and criticisms circulating about it, Braff and Pugh didn’t formally announce their relationship to the public until the end of that year. Pugh made the decision to face her critics when they criticized her romantic decisions.
Even though they were scrutinized a lot while they were dating, they still remained devoted to one another. In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Zach Braff expressed his admiration for Florence Pugh, saying, “There are people who argue that Florence Pugh is the best actress of her generation.” I haven’t seen a better actor than her in a very long time. She is truly incredible.”
Before their split, Braff wrote and directed the film “A Good Person,” in which Pugh starred as the lead actor. Braff called Pugh’s performance “the most miraculous thing you will ever see” in an interview with Collider, even though he acknowledged his bias.
