It was a big deal when Zac Efron, who is best known for his role in “High School Musical,” got a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
Encircled by his loved ones and close friends, such as Jeremy Allen White from “The Iron Claw” and Miles Teller from “That Awkward Moment,” Efron conveyed his appreciation to the members of his “HSM” family, which included producer Bill Borden and director Kenny Ortega.
He casually mentioned that they had sung the songs in the shower and said, “Go Wildcats.”
Zachary Efron honors Matthew Perry
Zac Efron took time during Monday’s ceremony to honor Matthew Perry, a cast member of “Friends,” who passed away unexpectedly in October.
Perry wasn’t there. In “17 Again,” where Efron played a younger version of the late actor, Efron expressed gratitude for Perry’s generosity and kindness. “Thank you so much, Matthew,” he said, acknowledging Perry and the film’s director, Burr Steers, for helping him advance in his career. “I’m thinking of you a lot right now.”
In addition, Efron said that Perry had been a mentor to him and that it would be “honored” to portray him in a biographical film.
What Miles Teller and Jeremy Allen White said about Zac Efron
Teller said he thought it was long overdue for Efron to have his star on Hollywood Boulevard. During the 2012 filming of “That Awkward Moment,” which Teller jokingly pointed out wasn’t a box office hit, the two became friends. Teller praised Efron, calling him the man, the myth, and the legend, and put aside his humor to refer to him as his friend and running mate.
Teller highlighted that Efron was the first real superstar to come through for their generation. He emphasized how Efron possesses extraordinary talent, a strong work ethic, and a striking appearance, making him a genuine triple threat.
In a brief speech, White—who plays Efron’s on-screen brother in the movie “The Iron Claw,” which is based on the famous Von Erich Texas wrestling family—shared her thoughts on the actor’s humility. In a lighthearted statement, White said, “So we’re all here today to remind him and put a big star in the ground with his name on it so he’ll never forget.” It seems that Zac Efron is unaware that he is a movie star.
Dylan, Zac Efron’s brother, and his parents celebrate his success in Hollywood
“I never thought I’d find myself standing here today,” said Efron during his speech. His mother Starla Baskett, brother Dylan Efron, and father David Efron were among the audience members who were friends and fans. Efron realized it couldn’t have been easy for his family to make the sacrifices they had for him.
He emphasized that they are the reason he is standing there now and thanked them for their belief in him.
