As the narrative opens, Rein Shroud is yelled at by his other party members. Rein is shocked when Arios tells him he has been kicked out of the party. Leanne answers fiercely that it was done simply since he is incompetent when Rein presses her for an explanation.
At this point, other group members begin making fun of him, and then when he begins to talk, Arios advises him against doing so because it would be pitiful. Rein thus departs from the group and returns the equipment. Rein begins to consider what he ought to do in the approaching metropolis.
Some kids approached him when he was still deliberating and inquired about whether or not he had finished the task. Then they encourage him to perform the customary action, which Rein gladly does. When Rein notices an eagle flying, he forms a brief alliance with it.

He now recalls the obnoxious behavior of the attendees whenever he discusses the hero celebration. After giving it some thought, he chooses to pursue adventure. Rein registers as an explorer at the Adventurers Guild by providing his name.
He requests information about the system for adventurers from Natalie Brough, the guild’s front desk employee. She gives him pertinent information and consults his class. She gets frightened at hearing “beast tamer” listed as his class, which prompts Rein to recall what Leanne had previously told him, but Rein assures her that everything will be alright.
The next instruction was to dispatch ten goblins as a certification test. He found the goblins using a squirrel, then he began to fight them. He eliminates them and gathers the miraculous stones. A Killer Tiger is encircling a girl, he discovers after hearing someone cry.
He makes the decision to attack it with his knife, but the knife breaks because of how tough the target’s skin is. He saw the girl leap at a high rate of speed and smash the killer tiger as it was closing in on him. The girl hails from the Cat Tribe, which Rein notices is allegedly critically endangered.
When the girl stumbles, Rein asks whether she’s alright. She claims to be famished. She thanks Rein for giving him some food and identifies herself as Kanade. Rein shares with her about his exile as they begin to chat about themselves, making Kanade upset with the hero.
He caressed Rein on the head, which made Rein pleased because she had been upset with him. Rein is then requested to subdue her. Initially, Rein doubts whether he can do it but decides to try it out of a desire to get to understand Kanade more. It turned out to be a victory.

Rein and the party are accosted by Arios and his crew as they are out on the road, walking and thinking about his current living situation with Tania and Kanade. They are greeted sarcastically by Arios, and Rein promptly advises them to turn around. Kanade and Tania intervene to protect their master after Arios makes some hurtful comments.
Then Tania doubts Ario’s group’s affiliation with the Hero Party. Arios tries to correct Tania because he doesn’t like her tone, but he soon finds that both Tania and Kanade are Dragonoid and Cat Spirit, accordingly.
Rein inquires about the purpose of Arios’ Party after learning that they are Rein’s domesticated beasts; Arios replies that they were forced to leave the Lost Woods due to its difficulties. As a result, Rein is given a chance by Arios to rejoin his squad, notwithstanding his “worthlessness.”
Following that, Aggath, Leanne, and Mina all say that Rein ought to be appreciative of them for enabling him to rejoin their team. Rein rejects their offer, but Leanne tries to persuade him by arguing that a relic named the Shield of Truth, which is hidden in the forest, would give them a chance to defeat the Demon King.
Leanne also says that without this relic, demons would flood and assault towns, which brings back memories for Rein. Rein discreetly consents to it under duress, and Arios’ gang reprimands him for delaying his acceptance.
