Onoda used to ride his mamachari – a bulky bike with a step-through frame that he used to pick up groceries or have fun with – to Akihabara every week so that he could purchase otaku goods or check out the shops. Shunsuke Imaizumi, a fellow freshman, sees a boy (Onoda) riding a mamchari up a difficult slope while he is exercising on a bicycle.

Review of Episode 10 Yowamushi Pedal Season 5

Teshima’s battle to have confidence in himself and his riding is one of the main topics of this episode. The race between Teshima and Ashikiba to reach the mountain line dominates the entire episode. The three Sohoku senpais watch the race together. He can see Teshima fighting Ashikiba at the front of the battle using binoculars.

Tadokoro’s delight when he found Teshima was the one from Sohoku contending for the mountain line was pretty fulfilling for me as a spectator because we’ve seen him serve as Teshima’s mentor throughout the series. Makishima’s speech can be a touch “on the nose” at times, but he’s just repeating what we’ve seen happen in the flashbacks between Teshima and Ashikiba.

I enjoyed seeing the crowd cheer for Teshima by name since he was portrayed and viewed as just an average rider up to this point. In Teshima’s thoughts, we can hear that he doesn’t think anyone will cheer for him at first since he feels in denial about it. The thoughts of Ashikiba indicate, however, that Teshima has been increasing his pace without even realizing he is doing it.

We see a flashback to Ashikiba and Junta when they were in middle school, and Teshima was confident that he would stop racing bikes. Nonetheless, we saw Teshima return to bicycle racing at Sohoku in another flashback. Another outstanding part of this episode was the character growth of Teshima and Ashikiba. However, we do not know who won the race to the summit line at the end of the episode.

Due to New Year’s programming the following week, Yowamushi Pedal: Limit Break will be postponed by one week. This is the third delay that this series has had this season, and the second that has occurred during Teshima’s character development arc. Poor Teshima. In the current broadcasting schedule, he does not seem to be getting all the respect he deserves.
