ENA’s upcoming drama, “The Midnight Studio,” introduces an unexpected camaraderie between Yoo In Soo and Eum Moon Suk as ghost employees within the intriguing narrative.
The drama, set to premiere on March 11 at 10 p.m. KST, unfolds a thrilling and mysterious tale centred around Seo Ki Joo (Joo Won), a photographer managing a professional studio exclusively for the deceased, and Han Bom (Kwon Nara), a dedicated lawyer.
Together, they navigate the realms of life and death with the enigmatic night guests.
Yoo In Soo steps into the role of Assistant Manager Ko, a dedicated ghost employee in his third year at the Midnight Studio. In contrast, Eum Moon Suk portrays Baek Nam Goo, a rookie employee and former detective.
Despite their diverse backgrounds, the characters form a unique and endearing friendship, adding layers of intrigue and amusement to the storyline.
Assistant Manager Ko, who met his demise due to overwork, approaches his duties at the studio with unwavering passion. Engaging in daily cleaning rituals and attentively listening to guests’ stories, he strives to fulfil every request. His lively and unapologetic demeanour often clashes with Seo Ki Joo’s preference for maintaining a healthy work-life balance, leading to humorous scoldings from Ko.
Baek Nam Goo, a recent addition to the Midnight Studio, juggles handling challenging guests and fulfilling tasks assigned by Assistant Manager Ko. Despite being a rookie, his unique status as the oldest member adds an intriguing dynamic to his relationship with Ko.
The character’s past as a former detective lends him an air of authority and charisma, even earning him the respectful title of “Mr. Baek” from Assistant Manager Ko.
As ghost employees grapple with unresolved matters from their past lives, Assistant Manager Ko is determined to complete his extensive bucket list of 162 items. On the other hand, Baek Nam Goo, a devoted husband, harbours a hidden story that ties him to his wife even after death.
Yoo In Soo expressed, “I believe it would be fun if you focus on watching the process of these two contrasting characters becoming friends and bonding over their shared mission of fulfilling the guests’ desires.”
Eum Moon Suk added, “Baek Nam Goo possesses telekinetic abilities, whereas Assistant Manager Ko can inhabit the bodies of the living, so it’ll be intriguing to see them solve guests’ cases by using their abilities.” Both actors emphasized their perfect chemistry, heightening anticipation for their on-screen interactions.
With an enticing premise and the promise of an unusual friendship, “The Midnight Studio” teases an engaging narrative as it explores the complexities of the afterlife.
