Japanese music duo YOASOBI has officially released its highly anticipated new album, THE BOOK for,, marking the latest milestone in the group’s remarkable global rise. Released on June 26, the album serves as the fourth and final entry in the beloved THE BOOK series while introducing the original track “Orion,” inspired by a short story from Blizzard Entertainment’s hit hero shooter Overwatch.
Alongside the album launch, YOASOBI has partnered with Overwatch on a special edition release and an upcoming in-game collaboration that will allow players to unlock themed cosmetics and rewards beginning June 30. The release also arrives just ahead of the duo’s Never Ending Stories North American tour, which will take them to some of the continent’s biggest arenas and music festivals.
Together, the album, gaming collaboration, and live performances mark another major chapter for composer Ayase and vocalist ikura, whose storytelling-driven music continues to reach audiences around the world.
THE BOOK for, concludes YOASOBI’s signature album series
According to YOASOBI, THE BOOK for, is the final installment in the group’s long-running THE BOOK album series, which began shortly after the duo’s formation. The title plays on both the number “4” and the word “for,” representing the message that the album is dedicated to everyone who has supported and embraced their music.
The comma at the end of the album title carries symbolic meaning as well. Rather than signaling an ending, it represents that YOASOBI’s musical journey will continue into the future, even as the THE BOOK series reaches its conclusion.
A standout addition to the album is “Orion,” a brand-new original song inspired by an Overwatch short story. Fans can also purchase a special Overwatch Edition of the album, including a U.S.-exclusive vinyl release featuring limited-edition collaborative artwork.
Beginning June 30, Overwatch players will also be able to experience the collaboration in-game through exclusive cosmetics and rewards inspired by YOASOBI’s music and storytelling.
North American tour follows another landmark release
Following the album’s launch, YOASOBI will return to North America for its Never Ending Stories headline tour. The tour includes performances at major venues such as TD Garden in Boston, Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles, Climate Pledge Arena in Seattle, and Barclays Center in Brooklyn.
The duo will also perform at Lollapalooza Chicago and make its first-ever Canadian appearance at OSHEAGA. The tour builds on YOASOBI’s growing international reputation after previous performances at Coachella, Radio City Music Hall in New York, OVO Arena Wembley in London, and Primavera Sound in Barcelona.
YOASOBI’s rise has been driven by a string of record-breaking releases. Their debut hit “Into The Night (Yoru ni Kakeru)” dominated streaming charts across Japan, while “Monster (Kaibutsu)” was recognized by TIME as one of the 10 Best Songs of 2021. More recently, “Idol” became the No. 1 Song of the Year on the Billboard Japan Hot 100 in 2023, spending 22 consecutive weeks at the top and reaching No. 1 on the Billboard Global Excl. U.S. chart.
