Well, if you didn’t know, you now should know that Yellowstone 1883 is getting two spin-offs this year. The first one is the prequel, Y 1883, and the second one is the spin-off 6666. The first one comes to Paramount+ and its main show, Yellowstone is by far the most-watched series on cable. So far, the streaming service Paramount+ has announced the first details about Y: 1883. The basic premise of the show is that it tells the stories of an earlier generation of the Dutton family, who are migrating from Texas and Montana. Besides the plot of the migration of the Dutton family, their journey is traced through the Great Plains toward the last bastion of untamed America. There’s some native American history that will also be explored in the past.
Don’t expect it to be a hunky-dory tale of fluff, because as far as the official plot is concerned, the makers have touted it as a stark retelling of Western Experience. The prequel is also an intense study of one family fleeing poverty to seek a better future in America’s promised land of Montana. Besides the basic plot, the release date, the cast details, and the plot specifics for Yellowstone 1883 have also been revealed. Here’s all we know about the hotly-anticipated Yellowstone prequel, so keep reading.
Yellowstone 1883: Cast
The lead of the plot is mainly about Sam Elliott, who’s touted as a “tough as nails, handsome cowboy with immense sadness in his past.” He will lead the group across the U.S. in their desire to conquer the native land. Additionally, it was also reported that the Husband-Wife duo, the country superstars Tim McGraw and Faith Hill have signed to helm the Yellowstone prequel.
Sam Elliot will also star in this prequel as Shea Brennan. His acting credits include Road House, The Hero, Park and Recreation, The Yellow Rose, and Grace and Frankie. Sam was nominated for an Oscar for his role in Lady Gaga’s A Star is Born as Bobby. The actors Tim McGraw and Faith Hill will portray James and Margaret Dutton, who are the patriarch and matriarch of the Dutton family, respectively. The actor Tim McGraw has starred in films like The Blind Side, Four Christmases, and Friday Night Lights (the movie), The Kingdom, Country Song, Tomorrowland, and The Shack. Faith Hill hasn’t done much in comparison. Her work as an actor has mainly been seen in the 2004 reboot of The Stepford Wives and Dixieland, the 2017 drama. She called getting the role, “This is the opportunity of a lifetime” and Sam Elliot was all praise for the writing of the show’s creator, Taylor Sheridan.
