Director and actor Yang Ik Joon, renowned for his work on Breathless, is under investigation for assault following an incident at a bar he owns in Seongbuk District.
According to the Seoul Seongbuk Police, Yang allegedly struck a junior colleague (identified as A) multiple times with a bundle of paper and verbally abused him on December 13, 2024.
A filed a complaint on December 30, and the police investigation is nearing completion. The case is expected to be referred to the prosecution soon.
Yang Ik Joon gained widespread recognition for Breathless (2009), which he directed, wrote, and starred in.
He has also appeared in popular dramas like The Innocent Man, Inspiring Generation, It’s Okay, That’s Love, Queen of Mystery, Bad Guys: City of Evil, and films such as The Fake and Canola.
Yang is set to star in the upcoming suspense thriller Confession, premiering on February 19. With a press screening scheduled for February 12, all eyes are on whether he will attend following the ongoing investigation.
