Thirty hours after Barcelona defeated Almería 3-2 in La Liga, the team’s coach, Xavi Hernández, said that he and his players were helping the club financially by playing a friendly against Club América in the US.
As ESPN reported, sources indicate that Barcelona might make €5 million from the game at Dallas’ Cotton Bowl Stadium.
Xavi acknowledged the club’s financial predicament and underlined the necessity for everyone to work together to support Barcelona financially.
Xavi highlighted his happiness about traveling to Dallas after their La Liga victory over Almería, adding, “We are aware of the club’s circumstances. For the club to be financially viable, we must all row in the same direction.”
After winning on Wednesday, Barcelona left for Dallas to play Club América on Thursday. All of the first-team players that are available have been called up by Xavi for the trip; however, Pedri and Ronald Araújo will not be playing because of injuries. Players from the young squad and B team have been called up to cover the holes.
