Legendary wrestler Ric Flair has faced health challenges over the years. In 2017, he was hospitalized with a serious condition, including a ruptured intestine and kidney failure. His situation was critical.
During a recent podcast appearance, Mike Mansury, a former WWE producer, shared a story about that time. Mansury helped produce Monday Night RAW, and Flair’s health scare caused a lot of anxiety backstage.
Backstage Chaos
Because Ric Flair’s family was keeping WWE updated on his condition, the company made an unusual decision. They prepared three different versions of that night’s RAW broadcast!
One version was the planned show. The second version was in case Flair passed away before the show. The third version was for the worst-case scenario: Flair passing away during the live broadcast.
Mansury described the situation as “nerve-wracking.” He felt the weight of potentially having to change the entire show on short notice, especially due to his respect for Ric Flair.
Thankfully, Ric Flair pulled through that health scare. He wrestled his final match in 2022 and is now part of All Elite Wrestling (AEW). Here’s hoping he stays healthy for many years to come.
