Stay by My Side is an ongoing Taiwanese BL drama and will end this week with the release of its 10th episode. The story is about a cute and bubbly boy, Jiang Chi, who learns about the spiritual world from his grandfather, and gradually, he starts feeling his connection with the ghost world. Just to make things worse, Jiang Chi starts hearing the voices of ghosts also.
His hearing problem was non-curable to doctors, too. Later, he finds comfort in his roommate, Bu Xi, as whenever he is close to him, he can’t hear any sound of ghosts. He tries to stay close to Bu Xia but eventually grows feelings for him.
Stay by My Side Episode 9: Recap
Stay by My Side’s last episode opens up with Jiang Chi, sitting on the bridge as if he is going to jump and take his life. His friends show up to persuade him and get him down. But Jiang Chi himself says he is just sitting, and even if he falls, he won’t since it’s an artificial pond and the water is shallow. His friends got clowned by themselves.
Next up, Jiag Chi was surrounded by his friends and asked him the reason for him being so down for so many days. Jiang Chi starts behaving reluctantly.
At last, he gathers his courage and says aloud that he wants to confess his love to Biang Xu and let him know that he loves him a lot. But he can’t do so when he is sober. He can only say so aloud when he is on alcohol, but he has strong alcohol resistance.
His friends mixed drink with his water and made Jiang Chi drink many bottles, which ended up making him a lot drunk. At last, he was handed over to Bu Xia, who was concerned over him at the dorm. Bu Xia helps him get a shower and changes his clothes.
Jiang Chi feels a little sober and reveals the reason for him drinking so much. He says he doesn’t want to be a burden to Bu Xia by asking him to stay 24/7.
But Bu Xia assures him that he loves him a lot, and it’s his concern if he wants to stay with him or not. No one can interfere or rule over him as to what to do. Both sleep together, hugging each other. The next day, Bu Xia had a continuous full-day class, so he called Jiang Chi and asked him to be careful of the spirits when he was away.
Meanwhile, Jiang Chi thought the sounds he heard were only of good spirits, and they didn’t harm him. But then, a spirit warns him that evil spirits also exist and they can cause harm. The same day, at night, when Jiang Chi is showering, an evil spirit tries to harm him, which makes Jiang Chi lose consciousness.
Bu Xia rushes to the dorm and rescues him. The following day, he visits Jiang Chi’s sister and asks for any other solution or ritual that can help Jiang Chi get rid of these spirit sounds. But Xia is concerned that even tho he wants to stay by his side every time, he can’t stay 24/7 by Jiang Chi’s side. He needs to make Jiang Chi independent.
