Will Nanami Die in Jujutsu Kaisen? Kento Nanami has been living dangerously right from the first time he showed up in the series. Despite knowing how overpowered Mahito is, he clashed with him quite a few times and even got pretty close to exorcising the evil curse for good. However, Nanami was no Gojo, so he had to push his luck to stand a chance against a special grade like Mahito till he unleashed his Domain Expansion.
Mahito tactfully kept Itadori out of it and trapped Nanami within his domain. Not to mention that the domain was like Mahito’s palm, and Nanami had no other option but to accept his defeat. However, it seems that the god of luck didn’t want Nanami’s story to end there. Itadori somehow managed to break in, and thus, Mahito ended up angering Sukuna for messing with his soul. Well, I doubt if he will be so lucky the next time he encounters Mahito or any other special grade curse.
How much longer are we going to see Nanami in the Jujutsu Kaisen anime? Will he settle things with Mahito fair and square this time? Or end up dying in the process?
Will Nanami Die in Jujutsu Kaisen?
Yes, as sad as it may sound, Nanami will die in his next encounter with Mahito in the upcoming Shibuya Incident arc. At least, that’s how it went in the manga, and the anime adaptation is expected to follow the same storyline.
Nanami was gravely injured and exhausted fighting an army of transfigured humans and a special grade curse named Dagon. Mahito must have held a heavy grudge on Nanami for almost killing him last time, so he made the most out of this opportunity. He finished Nanami right before Itadori’s eyes, thereby bringing a gruesome end to one of the finest characters that Jujutsu Kaisen offered us.
Nanami’s Final Words
In his final moments, Nanami smiled at Itadori and said, “You’ve Got it From Here.” As if he knew that Itadori was going to surpass him and defeat Mahito. Throughout the manga, we never saw Nanami’s smile, and little did we imagine that we would get to see it in his final moments. The smile can signify a lot of emotions, including happiness, pain, and remorse, but I think he is just happy to see how much Itadori has grown since the day they met.
The scene looked a lot similar to the previous time he was saved by Itadori, since the only people present were Nanami, Mahito, and Itadori, but the situation turned out differently this time.

The Aftermath
With Gojo sealed, Nanami dead, and unknown statuses of many other potent jujutsu sorcerers, including Nobara, the situation is far from ideal. The curse users who have been hiding in the dark for years are gradually making their comebacks. Everyone wants to make the most out of this chaos and acquire a high position in the jujutsu world.
Moreover, the balance of power is disrupted after the Shibuya Incident arc, and it seems that the curses under Sugeru Geto have the upper hand for now. Without the presence of wise and influential personalities like Gojo and Nanami, there’s no one checking the higher-ups from acting the way they please. If not anything else, I am pretty sure that Itadori, Megumi, and Nobara will be missing a diligent teacher like Nanami after his death.
Will Nanami be the ‘Jiraiya Sensei’ of Jujutsu Kaisen?
Deaths are an important element of any shonen series; it not only increases depth to the storyline but also helps a lot in the character development of the protagonist. The biggest example is how Naruto Uzumaki grew up to become the Hokage just as he promised his teacher when he was alive.
Well, it’s no secret that Jujutsu Kaisen has uncanny similarities with the Naruto series. From the coolest white-haired senseis to a devil residing within the protagonists, these two fantastic series share too many similarities to ignore. This makes us wonder if Nanami’s death will play a role similar to that of Jiraiya in the lives of his students, especially Itadori.
Itadori was very fond of Nanami from the very beginning and got many necessary teachings from him. Both of them risked their lives for each other couple of times and shared the perfect student-teacher relationship. The fact that Itadori is a lot like Nanami’s old friend Gojo must have been the catalyst behind their growing relationship. But sadly, Nanami’s untimely death that too right before Itadori’s eyes will most likely leave behind irreparable emotional scars in him, thereby giving him another reason to exorcist every last curse from the world.
