About Kagura

Kagura is one of the main characters of the series Gintama as the plot of the series is set in Edo, which is conquered by an alien from outer space named Amanto. The protagonist of the series Gintoki Sakata is a freelancer samurai along with his friends Shinpachi Shinmaru and Kagura as they work together to pay the monthly rent. Even though the series is set up in an ancient setting, it has some elements of science, as suggested by the editor of the series. Kagura is one of the friends of Gintoki. She is the youngest member of Yorozuya and the main female protagonist of the series. Kagura is a member of the Yato Tribe and the daughter of Umibouzu – the renowned alien hunter – the younger sister of Kamui. Her brother Kamui is the major antagonist of the Yoshiwara in Flames Arc.

Kagura didn’t have a very happy past. In her childhood, she lived in the slums of a faraway planet along with her parents and brother. Everything was quite normal until one day, her brother Kamui tried to kill their father but failed as he was only able to cut his arm. This incident made their father go berserk as he nearly killed Kamui, who was saved by Kagura. After that day, Umibousu left his family as he didn’t want to unintentionally hurt Kagura as he did with Kamui.

She was left to take care of a sickly mother, and all the incidents together made her a tsundere. Her actions can sometimes be contradictory to her likings. Even though she doesn’t like violence, she uses violence to solve her many problems. Being the youngest member of Yorozuya, Kagura had a very interesting and cheerful life. But will she die by the end of Gintama?
