Eli asks Mrs. Carlisle in court about her daughter’s religious views. Mrs. Carlisle finally agrees to the gift after hearing of Eli’s “messages,” and Diane praises Eli for his efforts despite being angered by his ruse.

Why was Eli Stone canceled?
This show’s numbers started out rather well; 12 million viewers for a debut episode is certainly nothing to consider low. But the show rapidly lost viewers, going from a seven million by the third episode of the initial season to less than six million by the end of the season one finale.
And then the show took slow, sharp dive down the viewership rabbit hole to just under three million audiences for the final four episodes of the series. It was on ABC and te ratings were quite low for the channel so it had to go off air.
