Many Jujutsu Kaisen fans have been wondering Why did Gojo Kill Geto? But only a few know the actual reason. So if you were wondering the same, then do not worry because, in this article, we will talk about it in detail.
Geto was one of the kindest characters in Jujutsu Kaisen, but because of some incidents, Geto began to change. What Geto was doing was not completely evil since he had a good reason to do it, but the way chose to do things wasn’t correct. And that gave Gojo no choice but to kill him. Let’s now further discuss this in detail.
Why did Gojo Kill Geto?
Gojo kills Geto because he chooses to walk on a different path compared to a Jujutsu sorcerer and decides to kill humans to eliminate curses from the world. He gets influenced by Yuki Tsukumo’s ideology in Jujutsu Kaisen Season 2 Episode 5. However, Gojo didn’t agree with Geto’s way of thinking, and he chose to kill him in Jujutsu Kaisen 0 when he was already half-dead after fighting with Yuta.
Geto was mentally hit after the Tengen Sama incident and didn’t know if what he was doing was right or wrong. After that incident, Gojo became quite strong, and he didn’t need anyone’s helps to complete his mission, due to which their group got broke, and they never went on a mission as a team.
Due to the Star Plasma Vessel event, curses sprints were showing up like maggots. All Geto did was exorcise and absorb them over and over. No one other than him understands how the curse spirits taste like. He didn’t know who he was doing this for.
Geto turning evil
After that incident, Geto kept telling himself that what he witnessed was not uncommon. He understood the ugliness of humans, and still, he chose to become a Jujutsu sorcerer who saves others. He told himself not to waver and fulfill his duty as a jujutsu sorcerer, but he couldn’t stop himself from hating humans.
However, before choosing to walk on a different path as a Jujutsu sorcerer, he took advice from Haibara and Yuki Tsukumo. Geto asked Haibara whether he liked being a Jujutsu sorcerer. However, Haibara doesn’t give an accurate answer and tells him that he does because he likes to do what not everyone can do, and he likes working hard.
However, Geto doesn’t need this type of answer for him, but then he meets with Yuki Tsukumo. Yuki was the person Geto was looking for, and by luck, he got to meet her. She had the same ideology as Geto. Yuki doesn’t do much mission for Jujutsu High since she doesn’t get along with Jujutsu High School’s policies.
Yuki Tsukumo changes Geto’s point of view.
According to her, all they do is treat the symptom of a problem. And she wanted to do something to treat the cause. She believes that rather than hunting curse spirits, she wants to create a world where they don’t appear in the first place. The thought catches Geto’s attention in an instant.
As you know, curse spirits are creatures that take shape when curse energy leaks out from humans and build up like sediments. So Yuki tells Geto the two ways to create a world where curse spirits aren’t born. The first one is to eliminate all the curse energy from mankind, and the second is to make it possible for all of humanity to control their curse energy.
According to her, the first one works pretty well since Toji accomplished it. Yuki has seen many cases where a person’s curse energy was reduced to your average person. But Toji was the only person where curse energy dropped down to zero.
The birth of evil Geto
However, there were many people with the heavenly packed, so she chose to go on with the second option by making it possible for everyone to control their curse energy. It is tested that compared to non-sorcerers, jujutsu sorcerers leak extremely little cursed energy. So if all of mankind were jujutsu sorcerers, curses wouldn’t be born.
But Geto had a different opinion. He told Yuki that it could be done if they killed every non-sorcerer. And Yuki also agreed with Geto’s opinion. And according to her, it is the easiest way to eliminate curses. But she didn’t want to do it that way.
It is not that Geto quickly changed after that, but after seeing his comrades die one by one, he started thinking about what he discussed with Yuki. So he chose to eliminate every non-jujutsu sorcerer from the world. And Gojo knew what he was doing was right, as they were meant to protect the weak, not to kill them. So he had no choice but to kill Geto since he knew he wouldn’t stop if he wasn’t killed.
