Bravo’s Married To Medicine is a reality series that revolves around the lives of women who are either doctors themselves or are wives of successful doctors from Atlanta. Kari Wells, who was introduced in the first season itself is the wife of a surgeon who ended up leaving the show right after its premiere.
Although fans loved seeing her on the show, Wells chose to stay as a “friend” of the wives, making appearances once in a while until the 10th season. Every season shows the group of wives meeting up for extravagant dinners or going on fun trips all over the world.
While seeing what it’s like to be part of the medical community in Atlanta is interesting, it’s the excessive drama and fights that add more entertainment to such a straightforward series. The first season, which was aired in 2013 had Toya Bush-Harris, Quad Webb-Lunceford, Mariah, Jackie, Simone, and Kari as the main cast members.
When Married to Medicine returned with a new season in 2014, Kari seemed to be missing from the main cast, making many believe that there was some feud or bad blood between the members which made Kari leave the series as a full-time cast.
Why Did Kari Leave Married To Medicine?
It was confusing to see Kari Wells be demoted to just a friend of the wives, especially after she had a hand in making Married To Medicine’s premiere a success. The blame was immediately shifted to Mariah Huq, who’s the executive producer as well as one of the wives on the series.
Mariah Huq ended up having a disastrous fight with Kari while at a party in 2013. Kari later revealed that she didn’t like the way Huq treated her at the party and later on when they were meeting up to film the show.
Huq’s toxicity and her inability to forgive Wells and others ended up becoming the reason why Kari decided to distance herself from the show. Even when Mariah knew that Kari was going through a tough time in her life, she still was arrogant and unkind towards her, adding to Wells’ problems.
When Mariah was asked about Kari’s leave, she revealed that although the time they spend together on the show isn’t necessarily great, she isn’t responsible for making Kari leave.
Her having a bitter feud with Kari and also being one of the producers is a good enough reason to assume she had a hand in Wells’ departure, but the reality star claims she wasn’t the one deciding who’s going to be the crew for every season.
Kari is a well-established woman who has her own company and things to manage, which is why she didn’t hesitate to become a temporary cast member of Married To Medicine. Becoming just a friend of the wives gave her enough privacy and time to focus on her own life and children.
Besides the first season of this Bravo show, Kari Wells returned as a recurring cast member in season 2 up until the 9th installment. Season 10 doesn’t include Kari Wells in the list of cast members, so we’ll likely be seeing her infrequently or not at all.
Kari Wells later claimed that she wasn’t a perfect cast member for a reality show like Married To Medicine. Everything from her Britishness to her different sense of humor and insane editing made her look like a person she wasn’t in real life.
Kari Wells: Where Is The Reality TV Star Now?
Kari Wells was born and raised in Britain, which is what made her so different from the rest of the Married To Medicine wives. Wells has had a successful modeling career and also has experience in producing films. Being the wife of a skilled orthopedic surgeon, Duncan Wells isn’t easy but Kari knows how to manage it all quite well.
While her husband is busy performing surgeries, Kari spends her time as a real estate developer and also owns a medical realty company. With so much already going on in her life, it’s understandable why Kari would want to distance herself from the drama and live her life in peace.
At present, Kari is busy traveling the world with her husband Duncan, and her children. Together, they’ve traveled to over 50 countries and continue to vacation at different places as seen through her social media accounts.
We’ll likely not see Kari Wells return as a permanent cast member on Married To Medicine anytime soon, however, she may come back as a guest in future episodes.
