Former Spice Girls member Geri Halliwell announced her exit from the group on May 31, 1998, just two years after their debut. Halliwell’s departure from the group was declared by her legal agent during a press conference.
According to her statement, the main reason behind her decision to leave was exhaustion and the growing differences between her and the members. Although the singer was parting her ways with the group, she wished the girls all the best for their future.
During her departure, the group was already touring across the globe for the Spice World Tour and had to perform without their fifth member for the rest of the tour. Years after her departure, the singer has finally revealed the real reason behind her decision to leave the Spice Girls.
