Eren Jaeger is the protagonist of one of the most popular anime of all time, Attack on Titan. Attack on Titan or AOT for short takes place on Paradis island which supposedly is the last remaining humans reside. The island is overrun by man-eating giants known as Titans. To protect themselves they built giant walls around them that the Titans can’t climb over. Furthermore, they have the cadet corps that act as the primary military force of the region.
The story progresses as the walls that have protected Eren all his life fail. He joins the Caden Corps with his childhood friends Armin and Mikasa. Season 1-3 follows Eren as he awakens his Titan abilities. He Learnt about his true lineage and realized that there is a whole world out there outside of the island. And that Marley, one such country outside the island is responsible for the attacks as well as the titans roaming the island.
By Season 4, things get more intense. We see Eren along with the Survey Corps infiltrate Marley. They were just in time to Marley declare war on Paradis Island. They had no idea what they were up against. By this point, Eren had honed his abilities to its peak. He attacked Marley first quickly dispatching the best of their titan warriors. However, what he did next is why the world believes Eren to be Evil.
What Happened To Eren Jaeger?
As you may already know one of Attack Titan’s unique abilities is to peer into the future. More specifically, they have access to the memories of their future inheritors. We can assume this was how he was able to stay one step ahead of all his enemies all the time. This was also the reason why Eren gradually slipped into his genocidal ways. Initially, the idea was to use the founder’s powers to make all Eldians sterile.
As we know that wasn’t what took place. Instead of following the sterilization plan, Eren started The Rumbling. The very thing the rest of the world was afraid was going to happen if Eren was left alone. Now that’s started there is nowhere to hide. For those who don’t know, the rumbling is the awakening of the Wall Titans. We have seen the death and destruction that was caused by one Colossal Titan.
Imagine what half a million of them can do. They reached the mainland in about no time. Leaving death and destruction in his wake Eren would continue his march till he is ultimately stopped. By that time he had already killed about 80% of the total population. In the Battle of Heaven and Earth Arc, we will see humanity’s last effort to stop the complete annihilation of the world.
In conclusion, it’s safe to say that Eren isn’t inherently Evil. It’s just that he has no choice but to follow the steps predetermined for him even though he knows how it will end for him.
Where Is Eren Jeager Now?
Eren has set foot in Marley and has already killed missions in his first couple of hours there. The Army chooses to save itself than bother with warning the civilians. The remainder of the survey corps along with what’s left of the warriors abroad the flying ship raced towards him and was able to land on him. That was where the episode ends. According to the manga, Eren transports them to the paths and converses with them.
He tells them the only way to stop the rumbling is to kill him. The survey corps plan to detonate the explosives they got from the Jaegerists at his nape in hopes of killing him. We saw Eren take on the full might of the Marlen Airforce and not even flinch. To defend against them, Eren summon the past iterations of the Nine Titans. From his visions of the future Eren already knows he will be stopped. It’s just a matter of time as of now.
