Directed by Sammi Cohen, the film titled You Are So Not Invited To My Bat Mitzvah is based on a similar concept with two best friends, Stacy and Lydia, planning their Bat Mitzvah to the last detail but everything unravels after a boy enters the lives of the best friends.
The comedy-drama film was written by Alison Peck and is based on a novel by Fiona Rosenbloom of the same name. Produced by Adam Sandler and Tim Herlihy, the film stars Idina Menzel playing the role of Bree Friedman, Stacy’s mother.
Jackie Sandler plays the role of Gabi Lydia’s mother; Adam Sandler plays the role of Danny Friedman, Stacy’s father; Sadie Sandler plays the role of Ronnie Friedman, Stacy’s older sister, Sunny Sandler plays the role of Stacy Friedman; the series protagonist, and Samantha Lorraine playing the role of Lydia, Stacey’s best-friend in the lead.
The film’s supporting cast stars Dylan Hoffman playing the role of Andy, Stacy’s love interest, Sarah Sherman playing the role of Rebecca, Dan Bulla playing the role of Jelly, and Ido Mosseri playing the role of DJ Schmuley.
Released on August 25, 2023, the film has a run-time of 103 minutes. Netflix brought the series for the viewers to enjoy. With overwhelmingly positive reviews, the film has grabbed the eyeball of almost everyone. The fresh humor used in the movie to showcase the problems an adolescent deals with is refreshing.

You Are So Not Invited To My Bat Mitzvah: Premise
The film focuses on Stacy and Lydia, two best friends falling for the same guy, thus the ensuing drama. Stacy and Lydia, are both excited about their Bat Mitzvah, and they have been planning it to the point for a long time.
The film starts with Stacey dreaming about her Bat Mitzvah and the plans she had for the same. Stacey plans to start her adulthood with the hottest guys of the 7th grade, and then we are introduced to her family.
Stacey’s mother is overbearing, and someone no one would like in real life, and her father is someone who lacks the spine to stand up for his child against his wife. Stacey is excited to share the spotlight of her Bat Mitzvah with Lydia, her best friend. Stacey buts heads with her parents quite often due to the picture of her perfect party.
Stacey and her parents have different ideas of what the party should look like. Stacey seeks support from her older sister as she has gone through the phase of their parents being overbearing and overprotective. Things change after Lydia gets an invitation to Kym Chang, a popular girl from the school’s party invitation. Stacy decides to tag along with her best friend to the party.
At the part, Stacey attempts to grab everyone’s attention and impress her crush, Andy. Stacy jumps off the ledge into the pool after she gets dared to do so to impress Andy.
Stacy getting the approval of the popular girls is short-lived as her blood-filled pad starts to flow near her. Stacy gets pissed at Andy for laughing at her, and she gets equally pissed at Lydia when she notices her laughing along with the rest of the group. Stacy announced the moment her crush died on Andy and her friendship with Lydia ended.
After the school resumes, Stacey learns that Lydia is going out with Andy. This infuriates Stacy, who decides to sabotage her friends’ dating life. Stacy stops talking with Lydia as she feels betrayed by Lydia and starts to send an anonymous message telling people that Lydia has hairs on her nipple.
Stacy’s next plan included sabotaging Lydia’s upcoming Bat Mitzvah, but she decided against it. Meanwhile, she continues to try and grab Andy’s attention to the point she goes to visit his grandmother at the retirement home.
Stacy attempts to look older than she is, and this leads to several fights between her and the parents. Andy offers to kiss Stacy, but they get caught by Rabbi Rebecca, who informs them about it to her parents, which leads to a major fight between Danny and Stacy.
Gabi goes to Stacy’s house to retrieve the Bat Mitzvah video made by her for Lydia. Bree sends the video to Gabi, and she plays the video at Lydia’s Bat Mitzvah as she is unaware of the content of the video.
On Lydia’s Bat Mitzvah, she angrily storms off after telling Stacey off for her behavior towards her. On Stacy’s Bat Mitzvah, she confesses everything she did to Lydia and tells Andy off for tearing her and Lydia apart. Stacy apologizes to Lydia for everything she did and invites Lydia to her party. The best friend makes up, and the film ends with Stacy, Lydia, and their friends having a bake sale.

The filming of the movie started on June 29, 2022, and wrapped up on August 11, 2022, with Toronto as the prime location.
1. Ontario
One of the most populous, located in Central Canada, Ontario, was used by the filming crew of You Are So Not Invited To My Bat Mitzvah. The entire comedy movie was filmed in Ontario in different locations like Halton, Peel, York, Greater Toronto, and Durham.
Conservative Synagogue served as one of the prime locations for the movie. The Beehive Hair Studio in Oakville served as another prime location for the movie’s filming. Oakville was used for the scene where Stacy goes on a shopping trip with her mother for Stacy’s Bat Mitzvah dress. Greater Toronto was used to film the scene where Stacy runs off to find Lydia and apologize.
