What Happened To Tony Bennett?
Tony Bennett courageously fought against Alzheimer’s, a chronic and degenerative disease that gradually undermines memory, eventually impairing the ability to carry out daily activities. Despite battling with that ailment as back as 2021, the man kept going; he did a few farewell performances, recorded another record with Lady Gaga, and kept himself in the loop.
Alzheimer’s is a terrible disease that gets worse over time and never stops hurting people. Even though Bennett had a lot of money and could get the best neurology care available, the relentless nature of the disease eventually won, and he was unable to escape its grasp.
Bennett died peacefully in his New York City home on July 21, 2023. His last words were the words “Because of You,” and his memory, work, and voice will be remembered alongside Frank Sinatra’s Rat Pack. The man was one of a kind, and he will be missed. We hope and pray for his family and mourn with the rest of the music community, including fans, producers, and musicians who worked with him.
