The film “Where The Crawdads Sing“ is a famous American movie that is a blend of mystery as well as a drama that was released in the year 2022. The movie was inspired by one of the recent time novels by Delia Owens, named as similar to the movie “Where The Crawdads Sing” in the year 2018.
The story is about Delia Owens, one of the most famous murder mystery, which shows two particular timelines which slowly gets intertwined with each other. The film is derived exactly in the way the novel is written, which consists of two main plots in the novel, and the story revolves around two main important characters, firstly a girl named Kya and secondly a man named Chase Andrews.
The first timeline deals with the story of the girl Kya which shows how she was brought up all alone in the isolated places in the marshes of North Carolina and her adventures as she grows up. While on the second timeline, we see the murder mystery being investigated by Chase Andrews, who is a local celebrity in North Carolina.
What Are The First Plots Of The Movie All About?
Well, very interestingly, the movie is shown in two plots as well in a similar manner it is written. The first plot is named “The Marsh,” where the movie starts in the year 1952 when we see Kya’s mother abandoning her husband and children and her family as her father had the habit of drinking and physically abusing her mother.
Soon after her mother leaves the children, all of Kya’s siblings, named Murph, Missy, Jodie, and Mandy, also soon leave their family and Kya behind due to their father’s behavior towards them. Now there’s only Kya left behind with her father. She learns fishing and coloring from her father.
Soon one day, she receives a letter from her mother, seeing that her father burned the letter along with her belonging and went away, never to return, leaving her behind in the marshes where she collects mussels and shells and sells them to earn money. She is uneducated, so she is also considered “wild” and “nasty”.
Soon she meets with a boy named Tate, who happens to be Jodies friend, and he teaches Kya to learn and write and a lot of things as to how to be in a modest way in the society they belonged to. Soon they become very close and share a romantic relationship, and everything goes well until Tate has to leave for his higher education at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
What Happens In The Second Plot And To Tate?
At the beginning of the second plot, we can see that Tate returns from the University after completing his studies and comes back to Kya and apologies for leaving her alone, but at first, she doesn’t forgives him and goes away. Later she meets her elder brother Jodie who informs her about their mother’s death, and later she reconciles with Tate.
In the later scenes, she is seen being harassed by a person named Chase Andrews and also attempted to rape, for which she has seen hiding whenever she sees her. In another scene, we see that Tate inspires her to publish her own book about shells and birds, and she goes to meet the publisher.
When she is away to meet the publisher, we witness the murder of Chase Andrews in the house of Kya, and when the police officer investigates, Kya is found not guilty, and she comes back and marries Tate and lives a happy life. They live happily until Kya dies at the age of 64, after which Tate finds a box.
In the box, Tate finds all the poems which Kya had written under the pen name of Amanda Hamilton and reads them. Under all her poems, he also finds all the evidence that was found on Chase Andrews in his murder spot, which clearly proves that Kya had killed him the day she said she went to meet the publisher. Tate threw all the evidence in the water, keeping her secret from the world as it was.
