Vince Neil is known as the lead singer of Mötley Crüe, which has a shocking history, including scandals, drug abuse, and tragedy. Thus, we can guess how controversial behavior he must be known for in the case of Mötley Crüe. However, the article focuses on his daughter, Skylar Neil.
Though we will dive deep into Skylar’s story further, Vince admits that cancer runs in his mother’s family. Thus, whatever happened to his daughter could be due to the legacy or a punishment for his sins.
In the end, Vince and his family were in turmoil because, on the one hand, Skylar was not in pain anymore. On the other hand, they lost Skylar. Skylar was Vince’s third child and first with Sharise Rudell. She was born when Vince was terminated from the band. After some time, Vince and Sharise divorced due to his drinking habits.

What Happened To Skylar Neil?
Skylar Neil suffered from Wilms’ Tumor (a rare kidney cancer). The braveheart underwent six related operations, radiation, and chemotherapy, and lost the battle on 15 August 1995. The then-34-year-old singer, Vince, wrote an article for ‘People,’ published on 16 October 1995.
The heavy-metal singer Vince divorced his wife, Sharise Rudell, in 1993 after five years of marriage. He shared his four-year-old daughter’s custody with Sharise. However, Skylar began showing flu-like symptoms in early April. Sharise did not bother much.
That night, Skylar suffered from intense pain that refrained her from walking. A tiny issue turned into a bigger one. Sharise took Skylar to West Hills Medical Center. Vince, who was away for a car race, got called by his friend, who informed him that Sharise was looking for him and Skylar was in the hospital.
Guilty of not being with his family when needed, Vince tracked his wife and reached the hospital after an hour, only to hear that Skylar had cancer.
Doctors rushed the little angel to the emergency room and started operating. Initially, they thought of it as an appendix rupture. However, it turned out to be a softball-sized tumor behind her stomach, which generally affects older people.
Vince found her in an ICU. Watching a kid hooked up to tubes in an ICU is not smooth for everyone. Skylar woke up after a few hours of surgery and was scared by looking at the surroundings. She was only thinking of going home and her Cinderella stories.
The tumor affected both kidneys, according to a CAT scan. The doctors could not remove it to save the kidneys. Instead, they decided to shrink it through a series of chemotherapy. However, she struggled to breathe when the tumor grew instead of shrinking, and her abdomen began touching her lungs.
After Skylar Returned Home
The doctors allowed Sharise and Vince to take their daughter home, though she had to go through chemo and shots of morphine. However, Skylar’s stomach ache increased, and the doctors operated on her again. Her intestines twisted due to the previous operation. Skylar did not want to go through the cutting, but it was all doctors could do.
Skylar could hardly breathe. Doctors found the cancer had spread to her right kidney, intestines, liver, and lungs. Removing her kidney would cause extensive bleeding, resulting in her immediate death. Thus, they patched her up.
Skylar’s Death And The Aftermath
Four-year-old Skylar stopped breathing on 3 June, and her medication paralyzed her to save her energy. The little warrior fought for two weeks. She underwent another surgery on 26 July, when doctors removed her right kidney, a tumor from her left kidney, and a part of her diaphragm and lungs.
Everything seemed fine. After a week, Skylar’s remaining kidney and lungs stopped working. Vince reached home, and Sharise called him to return to the hospital and asked Skylar to sleep. Skylar died in sleep till Vince reached the hospital.
Skylar’s cremation took place on 18 August. Vince visited a therapist to deal with his daughter’s loss. Vince and Sharise opened The Skylar Neil Memorial Foundation to raise funds for research, cures, and medicine, raise awareness, and support medical facilities to help children like Skylar.
Vince performed at several concerts to raise funds for his and other related foundations. He included Skylar’s Song, presenting her pictures throughout her life. The emotional song is in Carved In Stone, Vince’s second solo album, with less than 100,000 copies sold in the US.
