In the FBI, Maggie Bell knocked criminals to the ground, battled against bad guys, and exposed dishonest police. She was a harsh Special Investigator who was nosy yet skilled in her trade. As a result of her removal from the program, many fans are either incensed or interested in how her tale will conclude. What happened to Maggie on FBI? is a common question from fans of Missy Peregrym, who portrayed the character.
Following a near-fatal dosage of poisonous sarin gas in the 18th episode of the fourth season of FBI, Maggie Bell has still been healing off-screen. The majority of the episode was spent by Maggie and OA trying to find a threatening terrorist who had been in charge of the lethal nerve poison. The two discover their intended victim, a man by the name of Hakeen Abbas, but when Maggie tries to talk with him, he produces a revolver, and she is forced to shoot him.
Maggie was left confined within the room when the lethal nerve agent started to spread when Hakeen spilled a canister of sarin gas in the process. After OA freed her, Maggie had the incredibly good fortune to survive the assault, however, she was left in poor condition and required significant medical care until she could rejoin active service. Maggie is still healing from the close call as of the beginning of season 5.
FBI Season 4 Episode 18 “Fear Nothing”- Recap
In Season 4 episode 18, titled “Fear Nothing,” Jubal’s FBI team was searching for sarin gas that was acquired at a tragic meeting by a terrorist named Hakeen Abbas, who had a grudge against the American government.
After receiving a tip that the terrorist was in a deserted lab, Special Investigators Maggie Bell & OA Zidan (performed by Missy Peregrym & Zeeko Zaki) split up to explore the building room by room while dodging claymore booby traps because time was of the importance. Abbas was eventually identified by Maggie in a lab, where she attempted to convince him to give up. Abbas tried to go out fighting instead, tipping over a container of sarin gas while Maggie shot him in the eyes. Maggie rushed for the container, but when it touched the ground, it started to scatter. Even worse, safety procedures caused the door to automatically close and seal behind her.
Shortly at the hospital, the concerned OA was informed that Maggie had only been given a “reasonable probability for a full recovery” due to her “severe” contact with the chemical weapon.
Why has Missy Peregrym not returned yet?
Maggie may have almost lost her existence on the show, but Missy Peregrym’s pregnancy leave gives her a much happier excuse for being gone. On June 6, 2022, Missy welcomed her second kid after revealing her pregnancy on media platforms back in February. After welcoming a son, Otis, in March 2020, Missy announced on Instagram that she had welcomed a baby girl, Mela Joséphine Oakley, their 2nd child with partner Tom Oakley.
Regarding Missy’s exit from the show, FBI showrunner Rick Eid remarked in an interview with Variety: “Mainly, I reminded her, ‘Inform us what you wish, what you require, and we’ll do our best to support it.’ ” She was in excellent health and wished to continue working as long as possible.”
“We had a basic sense of the date she was likely to go, so it was simply a matter of finding the appropriate episode and narrative to go with that. Sarin gas sounded like a fantastic method for sending her out, in my opinion.”
We only wanted to make it possible for her to return when she is physically capable of doing so inside the fictional universes we currently inhabit.
The Second Maternity Leave of Missy Peregrym
Maggie has already been absent from the FBI, most notably after the second season when the protagonist was out on an undercover operation, as longtime viewers will recall.
In actuality, the operation was a means for Missy Peregrym to avoid her initial period of maternity leave following the birth of her son, Otis, with Tom Oakley.b Missy made a comeback in the first episode of the third season after being gone from the concluding few episodes of the second season. Maggie’s absence is felt much more keenly this time around, though, as she missed the first few episodes of the fifth season in addition to the last parts of season 4.
