What Happened To Kim Won-Bin in “Duty After School” Drama?
The plot of Duty after School drama revolves around the students of high school who are supposed to be studying for the entrance exams (CSAT) and are handed weapons instead of pens to combat strange aliens and bizarre creatures that show up from the sky. The students fight against those creatures along with Korea’s military power.
An announcement of all the schools and universities being reorganized into reserve forces is made by the government. On the other side, students who prepared hard for the entrance exam are devasted because the exam is not being held on that year, and the students are assigned to the hands of reserve forces instead.
What is Won-Bin’s role here? Sergeant Kim Won-Bin is sent to train the students with survival skills that are necessary for war and to combat the creatures. According to the government order, the students should undergo mandatory military training on the grounds of the school.
Sergeant Kim Won-Bin is a strict soldier who cares about the students. He is also Lee Chun-ho’s faithful assistant. Despite being 21 years old, he looks much older, so the students used to tease him for that.
What happened to the Sergeant, then? Yes coming there. After the death of Choon-Ho, Won-bin takes care of the students like an elder brother. But the character absurdly disappeared from the show at the beginning of the show’s second season, confusing the audience with how an entire character is simply taken from the show. It is said that Won-bin would have probably been the one who called and informed about the cancellation of the exam to Il-Ha and Soo-Chul on the radio.
Maybe he was asked to report the current situation and got stuck in reaching the students due to their lost connection. However, the Sergeant was aware of the place the students were stationed, and he could have checked on them.
There were many confusions like this which makes the audience puzzled about the sudden absence of the character. The show had concluded with a perplexing ending, and it would be better if the creators had given a few insights about this character and his absence.
