Sadly, Jack was killed off in When Calls The Heart. As Jack went off on an assignment with a group of recruits, he was tragically killed by a landslide accident. The scene was tragically painful as it was shown how Mountie even wrote a letter to his wife Elizabeth (played by actress Erin Krakow) as they feared that the assignment might be too much for his body to bear.
Co-star Lori Loughlin also admitted that Jack’s death was the only option as the only way Jack would leave Elizabeth) is in death. However, the writers soon made up for the tragic event as Elizabeth was pregnant with Jack’s child in season 6.

Who Played Jack in When Calls the Heart?
Daniel Lissing played the role of Jack in When Calls The Heart. The actor later stated that it is funny the way the world works because if he stayed on the show and been there for season 6, he would not have met his partner or gotten married and would not have been in this place in his life.
The actor further admitted that he has no regrets as he was just meant to be doing other things personally and professionally. However, Lissing admitted that there are things he certainly misses about being on the series, mostly his cast and crew, as he stated how his time with Hallmark was nothing but positive, and he was truly grateful to be a part of it. However, the actor returned in the spinoff series, When Hope Calls.
Lissing reveals that Lissing while he made an appearance in the new set of episodes, it was not an easy decision to make and revealed that it was actually co-star Lori Loughlin’s influence that convinced him to sign on. Lissing called his return to the franchise powerful and how it is everything it should be, but he also stated that he might not return to the franchise anytime soon.
Daniel Lissing Talks About His Departure?
Daniel Lissing himself later addressed his departure, saying that some circumstances arose for him where he needed to leave the show for reasons that were very personal to him. The actor further recalled how he went to Hallmark, and they were nothing but supportive of him, and he went to the girls, and they were nothing but supportive of him as well.
Daniel’s fellow co-stars Erin Krakow and Lori Loughlin also addressed his departure, saying that they are actors, and actors do have contracts, and sometimes those contracts expire, and one has a choice to make.
Loughlin also explained that an actor either renegotiates or doesn’t, and their co-star Daniel has chosen to move on, and they respect his decision. Krakow, who has shot the majority of her scenes with Lessing, also admitted that she was kind of sad when she got to know that Daniel was leaving. Krakow further stated that Daniel had been her partner in crime for five years and called him one of his greatest scene partners ever, and how she is really going to miss him.
