Richard Wayne Van Dyke was born on 13 December 1925. He is an American actor, entertainer, and comedian. He started his career as an entertainer on radio, television, and Broadway stage. Richard has received many awards during his career. He even appeared as a guest on many television programs like Columbo in 1974, The Carol Burnett Show in 1977, The New Dick Van Dyke Show from 1971 to 1974, Diagnosis: Murder from 1993 to 2001, and Murder 101 from 2006 to 2008. He was also seen in movies like Dick Tray in 1990, Curious George in 2006, Night at the Museum in 2006, Night at the Museum: Secret of the Tomb in 2014, and Mary Poppins Returns in 2018.
Van Dyke was a radio DJ on WDAN in Danville, Illinois, during the late 1940s. He made his Broadway debut in November 1959. In Bye Bye Birdie, he played the role of Albert Peterson, and the show ran from 14 April 1960 to 7 October 1961. Van Dyke has struggled to recover from alcohol and smoking throughout his life. He was admitted to a hospital in 1972 for two weeks to be treated for his addiction.
In an interview in 2013 with the London Daily Telegraph, he stated that he has been using Nicorette gum for the past decade. In another interview in April 2013, he revealed that he had been experiencing symptoms of a neurological disorder for the past seven years. Due to these symptoms, he felt a pounding in his head whenever he used to lie down.
Apart from acting in movies and television, he also wrote many books. In 1967 he wrote Altar Egos. In 1975 he wrote Those Funny Kids. In 2011 he wrote My Lucky Life In and Out of Show Business, and in 2015 he wrote Keep Moving: and Other Tips and Truths about Aging.

He was spotted last week in Malibu, where he was found driving on a slick road when he crashed into a block wall. Only one vehicle of Dick Van Dyke was involved in the crash. On 15 March, he hit the wall at about 11:20 AM.
One of the sheriffs of the department said, “Van Dyke sustained moderate injuries and was subsequently treated on the scene by members of the Los Angeles County Fire Department.” The car was at an unsafe speed as rain poured into the area then. So all of these factors contributed to his injuries. No other members or his relatives were present at the moment with him in the car. It was also reported that there was no sign of alcohol or drugs.
Officials were called then and there as some residents found him bleeding. He also had a concussion at the time of the accident. He reportedly lost control of the steering wheel. But luckily, the situation was under control, and nothing major happened to him. This was not his first accident; in 2013, Van Dyke’s jaguar caught fire on Highway 101 in Los Angeles. When people ran to help him, they discovered it was his car.
