While in a match against Michigan State, promising quarterback Cade McNamara ended up with a severe knee injury that can now only be treated with surgery. Since Cade will now have to take some time off, his part in this season had to end abruptly.
Considered the best quarterback in Northern Nevada’s history, Cade started playing for Michigan after announcing his commitment back in 2018.
Soon afterward, McNamara revealed that he’d be playing for Iowa Hawkeyes, a decision that was well received as he would be the perfect player that could upgrade Hawkeye’s offense.
However, McNamara had been in constant pain after suffering from a quad injury earlier on. The recent ACL tear seems to have been due to the worsening of the previous injuries. While this season has to end for Cade, he took to Instagram to reveal that he’ll be returning more determined than ever for the next season.
Cade McNamara’s Knee Injury: What Does This Mean For The QB’s Future?
While injuries such as this are very common in the world of football and almost any sport involving the hands and legs, ACL does need enough rest and time for it to heal completely. This is a tear or sprain of a ligament that can only be treated with the help of immediate surgery.
However, there will hopefully be no long-term consequences for McNamara, as ACL tears heal almost completely, and many sports players go on to have inspiring careers after it. McNamara has already undergone surgery to fix his ACL and will be back stronger than ever next season.
Who Will Be Replacing Cade McNamara Now?
Preparations are already underway by the Iowa Hawkeyes to let the season continue without any issues. Since Cade McNamara will now be gone for a while, Iowa Hawkeyes will instead call up Deacon Hill to occupy Cade’s position.
Deacon Hill is a football player from Santa Barbara, California, and has been committed to the Wisconsin Badgers. Deacon may lack much game time experience, but he was a part of a single game in 2022.
Moreover, Iowa Hawkeyes saw him as a promising replacement for Cade despite Deacon’s lack of experience, which suggests that there’s a skill set that Hill possesses that could likely help the team this season.
Seeing Cade McNamara, such a young and skilled quarterback, in action, would have been exciting, but for now, at least until the next season, Iowa Hawkeyes will have to win the season without Cade.
Cade McNamara: About The Quarterback
Born and brought up in Reno, Nevada, Cade was introduced to the world of sports at an early age by his father. Sports ran in the McNamara’s blood, so it was not long before Cade got into a sport of his own choice.
His father, Gary McNamara, is a well-known baseball player who used to be one of the assistant coaches for Nevada Wolf Pack Baseball teams.
At first, Cade McNamara was interested in baseball as well as Football, but when his father only allowed him to focus on one sport, Cade ended up going with Football, and the rest is history. Back at his high school in Reno, Nevada, Cade was considered one of the greatest football players.

McNamara was made a starting quarterback in his freshman year, with him leaving his high school with the title of Gatorade Player of the Year. Cade’s promising high school football career is what drew many to start supporting him, and various other colleges started offering a place for Cade on their teams.
Cade’s father revealed that there were barely any colleges that didn’t want Cade to be a part of them, showing that he had many offers yet still chose to go with Michigan since he was in awe of Jim Harbaugh, the head coach there. Since then, Cade has given us some great games, and we hope to see him shine more in the future.
Cade McNamara let his Instagram followers know about his surgery update and that he was feeling much better after his ACL tear was fixed. McNamara is now recovering comfortably and preparing himself for the next season.
