Who Was Henry “Hank” R. Schrader?
Henry “Hank” R. Schrader first came on screen as Walter White’s brother-in-law, who was also a special agent with the DEA or the Drug Enforcement Administration. He appears in the first episode and is a part of the team that busts out a meth ring with Walt in the car. Walt witnesses the escape of Jesse Pinkman and joins hands with him to manufacture meth. In the beginning seasons, Hank is generally supportive of Walt and teases him as brothers-in-law often do. When Walt tells the family about his lung cancer, Hank promises to take care of his family and takes his son under his wing.
Dean Norris plays his character to perfection. Hank also has a lot of tendons going on with the local cartels and drug rings. This worsens Hank’s mental situation throughout the series, and he keeps becoming increasingly paranoid and taking more extreme measures. And he becomes obsessed with finding the identity of “Heisenberg,” his brother-in-law and a local drug lord.
How Did Hank Die?
Season 5 of Breaking Bad was the show’s last season, and the season meant to conclude all the loose threads of the series. After Gus’s death last season, things start to both escalate and fall apart. Gus and Jesse go into hiding, trying to recreate their drug business. The DEA is still on their heels as they try to destroy evidence of their identities on Gus Fring’s laptop. As Walter deals with his family’s growing antagonism towards him and tries to fend off the DEA with his brother-in-law, Hank, in charge, he forges new alliances with new people and gets involved with Jack and his brotherhood.
In the shootout against Jack, Steve Gomez dies, and Hank gets heavily injured, but surprisingly Jack and his gang are completely fine. When Walt tries to negotiate with him, Jack is about to kill Hank, offering the whole $80 million amount. Hank makes fun of Walt, saying that Jack is going to kill him anyway. And that is exactly what Jack does. Jack shoots him and kills Hank and Walt is in despair.
In Which Episode Does Hank Die?
The events that lead to Hank’s death happen in Season 5 Episode 14, “Ozymandias,” which begins with the aftermath of the shootout against Jack and his gang, where Hank is injured. The episode starts with his death. The gang buries Hank’s and Gomez’s bodies and steals Walt’s money.
When Skyler tells Walt Jr. about his father’s drug business, Walt’s family starts falling apart. Walter returns home and tries to convince his family to leave with him when his wife, Skyler, realizes that Hank is now dead. She fights with her husband, and he flees with Holly. The episode ends with him leaving Holly with her home address at a fire station.
