Gilmore Girls got universal praise. One of its epic scenes was Lorelai and Luke’s kissing scene, which turned out to be the best moment in the history of the series. It was an aww moment that the viewers wished to watch repeatedly.
However, it was not the first romantic scene in Gilmore Girls. Lorelai had slept with three men and Luke with two women before the kissing scene. Still, the previous romantic scenes cannot come closer to this one.
Gilmore Girls is about a thirty-two-year-old mother, Lorelai Gilmore, and her teenage daughter, Rory Gilmore. The mother wants to own an inn, while the daughter wants to get admitted to the prestigious Harvard University. Meanwhile, they are also best friends for each other.

What Episode Do Lorelai And Luke Kiss?
Lorelai and Luke kiss in Gilmore Girls Season 4 Episode 22, Raincoats and Recipes, which got a higher rank. In this episode, Lorelai thinks about her relationship with Luke. She is suspicious that Luke’s feelings towards her are genuine.
However, Lorelai is busy opening her Dragonfly Inn and inviting her family and friends. Talking about her family, she tries to bring her parents, Ed Herrmann, and Kelly Bishop, together, but her plan does not work when she discovers that the cuts to their marriage are deeper than her imagination.
Jason Stiles broke up with Lorelai but appeared in the final episode of the fourth season to tell her it was a mistake. On the other hand, he tells Luke that he is still dating Lorelai. Luke gets jealous after hearing it and goes to Lorelai to confess his feelings for her.
While having a conversation on the front porch of Dragonfly Inn, Luke kisses Lorelai, and she reciprocates. The kissing scene ends when the two see Kirk Gleason running naked. It is how they take one more step ahead. However, there are more steps to be taken through physical intimacy.
Though Lorelai and Luke kissed for the first time at the end of the fourth season, Lorelai had dreamt of doing so in the third season. She goes downstairs and watches Luke cooking for her. They talk as if they have been together for long. Luke kisses her and her stomach and says bye to her, Sid, and Nancy, before leaving. However, it turns into only a dream.
Scott Patterson, who played Luke Danes, was nervous before the fourth season’s kissing scene because he knew how a big moment it was. However, he did not remember a similar scene done in the third season, according to his statement in the podcast, ‘I Am All In.’
Luke And Lorelai’s Relationship
In the first season, Lorelai befriends Luke, a local diner owner, but denies having something more than friendship between them when people question her. Meanwhile, Luke remains silent on that topic.
Jess Mariano, Luke’s teenage nephew, becomes Rory’s friend, and Dean gets jealous. Lorelai does not want Rory to get closer to Jess as he is a bad example. She started hating him after the accident that broke Rory’s wrist. This argument leads to another between Luke and Lorelai in the second season.
Luke dates Nicole, a lawyer, in the third season and gets closer to Lorelai in the fourth. Lorelai faces a financial crisis while opening her Dragonfly Inn, and Luke lends her money. He secretly marries Nicole and gets divorced soon. Later, Luke discovers his love for Lorelai and confesses the same to her. Thus, he starts impressing her by the end of the fourth season.
Lorelai asks supportive Luke to marry her in the fifth season. However, in the sixth season, her wedding plans with Luke are ruined when she finds his twelve-year-old daughter, April, and he chooses his daughter over Lorelai.
In the seventh season, Lorelai writes a character letter for Luke, which makes him win his daughter’s custody in the legal battle. Meanwhile, Lorelai gets into a short-term relationship with Christopher. Lorelai and Luke kiss once again at the end of the seventh season.
The duo’s relationship goes through a roller coaster ride, and they finally marry in the Gilmore Girls revival miniseries produced by Netflix nine years after the original series ended.
